So from memory, you were knocked back for the citi plat card 3 times now...? Also self employed like me...
YES - correctamundo.
So I wonder what's changed for Citi to send you an offer for the Gold card...? Was the offer emailed / snail mail...? and was it targeted or just random......
NFI why they changed their minds - yes addressed to me c/o my company..... Mr Cruiser Elite.......Cruiser Elite Enterprises.......445 Cruiser St......ELITESVILLE VIC 3999.

I am past worrying about any shiite I have to endure to get in the door - I am on a mission.

For people like jingles interested in timeframes, heres my experience as an existing current cardholder:
Applied and sent ID immediately
Recieved call and asked to send proof of declared "other income" - 1 business day
Approved despite never sending additional proof - 3 business days
Card recieved with PIN on its way I'm told. - 6 business days

Pretty fast turnaround if you ask me.

Just waiting for the Citi Qantas rewards request to go through and confirm before I hit that first spend and claim the jackpot.

Now I have to decide whether the $149 annual fee for my Citibusiness Gold that is due in a couple of months is worth the 16,000 extra points I stand to gain from the higher earn rate.

Applied Sunday afternoon, checked their application progress tool thing this morning and it says it's approved. From what you've all been saying, when I ring up to activate the card I need to tell them I want it hooked up to the QF rewards to have the 60k points after first spend etc. creditd as QFF points.

Question: By nominating the QFF rewards pathway, what of all the platinum goodies am I also opting out of (eg. free bottle of wine, concierge service, overseas travel insurance)? ie, what of the extra's are only accessible if you are linked into the Citi Rewards scheme?

How it is the Gold is earning more than the Plat???? What are your earn rates for each?
Standard Citibusiness Gold earn rate (note this is CitiBusiness gold not the standard Citi Gold) is 1.25 pts per dollar vs standard Citi Plat which is 1 pts per dollar.

Note the latest offer from the website for the Plat now seems to have a temporary (until Jan 1 2012) 2pts earn rate but has lost the 60K extra points. As an existing holder it's straight 1.25 pts vs 1 pts comparision.

For anyone who gets the offer comparison would be

CitiBusiness - 40K points plus 1.25 pts for $1 for 149/year
CitiPlat - 0K upfront plus 2 pts per $1 for $199/year (this seems to have reduced too from $250), but reduces to 1pt per $ Jan 01 2012

Depends on your spend but you'd need to be spending at least about 45-50K before 31/12 for the plat to be a better offer at todays rates and then only until Jan 1 2012.

Question for those with multiple Citibank credit cards. I just got my second platinum a few days ago, and was wondering if it was possible to get them both to appear in online banking under a single login?

It's been a few days since card activation (but card is not yet used) and it hasn't yet come up in my list of accounts.

Not as far as I know, you need separate accounts, in fact even when I accepted the upgrade from Gold to CitBusiness Gold I had to setup a new login. So I have an account for my old Cit Gold, my new CitiBusiness Gold and one for Citi Plat, yes very annoying.
Once statemented though, all accounts can see all statements. Strange system.

Very bizarre for a system that claims to consolidate all your accounts into one place!

Thanks very much for the reply burmans, I shall sign up tonight and check my QFF membership was tacked on properly.

For those who have successfully received their 60k QFF points, did they get credited long after the points for your spend?

I received my first statement today, and it shows the 64110 points earned under QFF (4110 spend points, 60000 bonus), yet only 4110 has been credited to my QFF account and the online portal shows my 'Reward Point' balance as 60,000 points...

Just a follow up on Bunza's post - as a new customer, it was 9 business days from online application through approval to first cards arriving. Additional cards arrived the next mail, but no PINs yet...

3 times Citi have knocked me back for this Visa card but this morning received an application form for a CitiBusiness Gold Credit Card with 40,000pt bonus from the fockers.

Will apply and see their response - if I can get foot in the door will upgrade to Citibank Select in 6 months if they allow after seeing consistent 30K spend/pay/month.

Cruiser, what's the last day you have to apply by to accept this offer? Any web link on your offer form we can follow?

As you know us self-employed ppl are all in the same situation, and I'd be keen to look at this offer.

Any info you can provide will help.

Cheers

I made my first spend at the pub last night around 7pm. Log on today and it had already posted and the rewards screen reads:
Reward Points Balance : 60,071

I can confirm you can earn QFF points, but you must be careful how you do it.

Firstly, posters who note there is no option for QFF direct earn during the application process are correct; you do not choose QFF direct earn during the application, but only after you have received your card, but before you spend on it.

Make sure you:
  1. Do not use your card before you have opted in.
  2. Opt in to the QFF program before you spend on it.
    1. Activate your card.
    2. On a separate phone call (so the nice Citibank person doesn't get confused), opt into the QFF rewards program. Agree to pay the $49.
  3. Once you have your pin, before you spend on your card, set up online access, go online, and check if you're opted in.
    1. Click on the rewards option on the right.
    2. Click on the Browse through Citi Rewards
    3. You should see that you're in the QFF program. If not, ring up and get it fixed.
  4. Once you're certain you're in the program, spend on your card!
  5. You won't see the points until your first statement - where it will show your spend points (you don't get points for the annual fee, additional cardholder fee, etc), as well as 60,000 bonus points, all listed as QFF points.
The Mrs now has a nice 70k points to transfer to me, which will mean on the trip next year we'll be sitting in J and the rug rats will be in Y.

Just wanted to thank you BJReplay for this amazing summary. I have followed it to the letter and so far so good. I never would have worked this out otherwise.
60,000 points will come in very handy!!

Will check that for you tomorrow - have been in China for 1 week and arrived back today.

I posted in my completed application form on May 18. I departed to China on May 23 - on May 24 my office received a call from Citinto 'clarify' some matters.

I called them on my return today May 30 at 11am - was told that application had been processed and I would hear from them in 4 or 5 days - they said they could not confirm approval or rejection.

Since that call I have had 2 further calls from Citi - 3.30pm at office and 7pm at home tonight where they just asked me to clarify spelling of names etc as applic was hand written.

What happens now how would anybody know - but I think I am making progress. Still amazing isn't it - Amex throw Cent at me - Citi just don't wanna know me.

Just checked the application form I received in mail which I then completed and sent off.

Nowhere on the form is a url to download this form - it was a 'targeted' application form as it had my name and registered address of one of my companies already included in the relevant fields.

Sorry I cannot add more - but I will post progress reports as it unfolds.

I'll second that - cheers. And also, thanks to whoever it was that posted the link to the 50% discount on the annual Citibank fee (sorry, but I can't find the post now) but it worked a treat: $125 (okay, plus $45 for joining the Qantas rewards pgm, but still a bargain) for 60,000 points. Much appreciated.

i wonder whether or not its too late to get the 60k point offer still if i apply today since it says you must apply before may 31st or should i play it safe and apply for the 50k offer via the qantas website since it ends on june 30th ?

also ref the annual Citibank 60k offer ( code PDW3B2CA ( Reduced Fee $ 125.00 ) in the terms it has no end date . is this a targeted offer or can anyone apply quoting this code? its says that existing citibank customers arent eligible in the terms. do they mean all citibank credit card holders or just the ones that have already had a citibank platinum card?

i have a gold no annual fee card for life that has a pre-approved upgrade offer in my offer tabs when i log in to citibank but says i in the fine print that need i to pay a $250 annual fee so i think it best that i make a new application so that i can try and get the bonus 60k points if at all its possible.?

can any existing citibank credit card holders that have applied for the 60k offer confirm whether or not they got their 60k points and which url offer they applied for?

I'll second that - cheers.
