Okay, I love the Amex promotions and all the bonus points that are up on offer, but I am sick and tired of having to chase the points

1. HotelClub (10 bonus points per $1) - 3 bookings, only 1 posted the points, the other 2 have not, Amex "looking into it" and will get back to me in 5-7 days. Another booking made a few weeks ago, no bonus points, but need to wait the 8-10 weeks first.

2. Shell - Spend $50 get a $30 voucher - Signed up for this, as did a few other family members. no voucher ever received - On my list of things to chase up with Amex

3. NIB - 10,000 bonus points when joining - 16 weeks later no points. Have to call to chase up.

4. **** Smith - Bonus points have stopped posting. I have been buying all my supplies and TV's, computers for work, friends and myself from there. Haven't bothered calling yet as the T&C's state 8-10 weeks.

Again I love promotions and would prefer to have them, than not, but Amex really needs to get them working correctly!

If I don't receive all my bonus points as clearly advertised I will be lodging a complaint with the Banking & Financial Services Ombudsman.

Considering you were the one who managed to successfully milk 3.2 million points out of MR last time based on signing up to 3 promotions at the same time with no caps, I guess you're the best person to lead the charge again.

I've had to chase vintage cellars points in the past from Amex - didnt credit as the holding company name isnt vintage cellars but some random company name (on the gold coast).

To be fair, they credited 1000pts "due to the inconvenience of having to call" rather than the 550-odd that were actually due.

I have been getting the correct points / promotion gifts so far, fingers X.

But I couldn't comment on the D|cksmith promotion as Ive bought $2000 back in Feb and haven't done any DS shopping since.

Whoops, my mistake

But you are the one who spends Amex everywhere and won't take 'no Amex' for an answer, right?

Yes that is me, but I have given up reporting companies that dont't accept Amex to Amex as the success rate has been less than 0.5% so not worth my time. I just take my $$ elsewhere

To the OP: I have found that while Amex does not always award points when they should that they have always awarded then when followed up.

As to the OP's nick: I would have preferred if he had chosen a nick not so closely resembling mine as it has caused regular confusion as many unfortunately "blend" us together.

Thanks

Sorry, but can't change it now :( can I ? Doesn't appear to be an option  for me to pick a new name.

I'm still waiting for my Rebel Sport voucher, despite receiving an email confirming that I had qualified.

Yes, I'm not at all happy with Amex's running of promotions.

I'm a plat charge card member. I was missing the 75,000 sign-up bonus points 5 months after becoming eligible, and also the NIB 10,000 points.

Made 2 phone calls over a 3 week period with a 'promise to get back to me', and finally heard back after a month to say that the sign-up points had now been credited (something to do with an error on their end). In the meantime, I'd sent a follow-up letter, and I received a follow-up call a couple of days later to advise that they were still investigating the NIB points - apparently because I had signed up towards the end of December but was not billed until the 3rd of Jan (not sure why, I didn't choose that billing cycle) it wasn't automatically picked up and they had to follow-up with the promotions department to authorise the points. That's a turnaround time of over a month. Surely, for a $900 pa card, and with the amount I'm charging to it, they could just quickly authorise the 10k plus a few extra for the hassle. Pathetic.

That's the same line that I was fed. Basic customer service is that the first person resolves the problem I always thought....

I am expecting a call back by Friday and of course I'll keep this thread updated

I find Amex and their promotions generally good and bonus points have been posting relatively easily without hassle.

That being said I am still waiting for Vodafone 10,000 bonus points from early December 2010 but I feel that is more a fault of Vodafone's than Amex.

I must have done ok - the promotion in december for a $50 Woolworths card for each $250 spent (@ woolworths, big w, bws etc) came through in the timeframe described in the promotion. All bonus points for signing up (across a few cards - Amex Ultimate, Premium, & Platinum Credit) came through within the first month as well.

Just waiting for my $50 Virgin Blue voucher from the recent promotion ... will see if they keep up their good record for me.

i am having concerns that the DSE Bonus points have stopped posting too. i called MR today and they said it ended on march 15th. they asked for me to fax a copy of the terms where it says it ends june 30 2011 but i told them that i dont have acess to a fax atm. In the end i was given a strange email ending in @aexd.com to send the proof too but it bounce. i resend it to @amexd.com and it seems to have gone through this time. can anyone confirm if this is a valid domain since its a bit strange? Anyway i need a copy of the DSE bonus 5 points terms as i cant find where i saved mine. if anyone has a copy upload it or pm me please so i can chase them up.
I too love amex promotions and would prefer not to have chase them up.

amexd.com is a valid domain but possibly not the one you were looking for - the registrant is in the Philippines. I suppose it could be a call centre but there is no mention of American Express that I can see.

Richard.
