Amex Promotions/Bonus Points - Constant Problems

Same issue here...

1. 3 X HotelClub bookings - not posted. I had got the 10 X bonus for an earlier booking which I later had to cancel...the points were withdrawn almost immediately!

2. MBF bonus...no news after 5 months!

3. D*** Smith bonuses not received!

Usual answer...will get back within 5-7 days. Called again after 2 weeks...still same answer...very apologetic but the end result still the same.

Long time reader - first time poster.

Can honestly say Ive never had trouble getting points through ( touch wood ).

I heard today that If I purchased a 1.5kw Solar System from Origin and paid on my AMEX id get 2 bonus points for every $ spent so id get around 9000 pts for my $2990 purchase ( 1 + 2 bonus pts ) - I cant see anything on the Origin site though?

Anyone know about this? With the feed in tarrifs and product , this looks like a pretty good offer.

I haven't had any problems with bonus points but Amex have been terrible at delivering other promotional items to me:

- signed up for plat charge while discounted annual fee was on offer, was charged full fee and had to ring up to get the excess rebated

- signed up for SPG gold card last August, many calls later I have received an SPG membership number (and even that took two extra calls to SPG to get working) but still no SPG membership card

- signed up for offer where if I spent $30K in three months I would get a $750 travel voucher, qualified last October, many calls later still no sign of voucher

You start to suspect that Amex's standard procedure is simply not to deliver promotional items in the hope that people will either not notice or will give up chasing them.

Otherwise I have been happy with Amex.

Signed up for Amex Plat last Dec to get the 75,000 FF points, after numerous emails asking when, and receiving different replies!, finally received them last week, so 4 months in all, well done Amex (not). For some reason I thought it was 1.5 FF points per $ spent, apparently not, so Ill continue to use my ANZ Plat. CC which does give 1.5 FFP to each $1.

The Amex Platinum charge card should be 1.5 points per dollar. You might want to follow up on that.

I was going to do this one too as it sounds great - was planning to get a system anyway, so Bonus Points have made Origin an easy choice! The AMEX site (Amex Bonus Rewards | Partner - ORIGIN SOLAR) doesn't give a phone number unfortunately, only a link to the Origin website, and you're right there's nothing about the offer on there, grrrr I called Origin and they knew all about it, so you should do the same. Am organising mine tomorrow, looking forward to my 10,465 points!!!

Also signed up in December (could've even been November) and still don't have the 75k bonus points. Was told it was 8 (12?) weeks from the date of the end of the promo, which worked out to be some time in May from memory, worst-case scenario. I've called and been assured the points are coming...eventually. Might be worth another call to check. Wanting to book some SPG accommodation and could really use the points (speaking of which, anyone know if there's any chance of another SPG redemption bonus like they had a few years ago? Worth a shot ).

I'm definitely getting 1.5pts per $ though. You should look into that. My points show up as 1:1 base points, then another 0.5:1 "Platinum Card Bonus Points".

I signed up the Amex platinum charge card for the 75,000 points. when I called to activate, I think I'd just mention that. To my great surprise, I was told that I didnt go through the right 'link' and therefore no bonus points would be given!!! that was the main reason I signed up for this card. the guy on the phone said that he will put in a 'marketing escalation' for me but will take 10 days to get a response... has anyne had similar experience? how was that resolved? or should I just cancel this card and go through the 'correct link' to make sure that I get the points???
PLEASE ADVISE!!!

So 2 more months have passed:

1. HotelClub - Points Posted

2. Shell - Spend $50 get a $30 voucher - Signed up for this, as did a few other family members. no voucher ever received - On my list of things to chase up with Amex - Never received a call back

3. NIB - 10,000 bonus points when joining - 16 weeks later no points. Have to call to chase up. - 24 weeks later and no points

4. **** Smith - Bonus points have stopped posting. I have been buying all my supplies and TV's, computers for work, friends and myself from there. Haven't bothered calling yet as the T&C's state 8-10 weeks. No call back and no points

recent 10x points for AAMI and GIO, the AAMI ones were there in the statement, the GIO ones i've made 3 calls, been told each time they had fixed it and would appear on my next statement, last call yesterday was to the "promotions area" by the very pleasant and helpful consultant, she has been following thru on her agreements with me, seems the guys in the promotions area are not keeping their side up. Company rep has been returning my calls so i'm confident they will get there in the end.

And after going through all this I then find out that the offer is not available to Qantas AMEX cardholders, which they should have told me from the start given that they knew that I had a Qantas AMEX card.

Talk about waste of my time and theirs too!

When did you make the transaction because Qantas AMEX Cards are definitely eligible - I have that Card, spent at Harvey Norman and have received my Bonus Points. Here's the Qantas website to prove it, s make sure you fight for your points!!

In my first month of getting the new ANZ Platinum Card I made purchases at bonus partners and got the points in the card's inaugural billing month. Whilst not having my 2nd months statement it would appear as though the 32k bonus points have come through too. Certainly cannot complain!

Has any platinum edge cardholders noticed that the 3X bonus points have stopped posting since 21 Sep? I have just been given the base points and not the 3X bonus points for shopping at the supermarket. Cant Amex just get their basic promo right?????sighs.....

Yep I have an Edge and have noticed that as well. My points only come as 1x (instead of the 3x at supermarkets and 2x at petrol stations.)

I'm going to sit tight for a week before giving Amex a call.


Also I have signed up Vodafone with their 7,500 bonus ... but they have given me two lots of 7,500 .... (and waiting for the correction, but fingers crossed it won't happen too ).

And I signed up with AAMI CTP insurance, saved $31 cash switching from NRMA, and the bonus 10x points posted the same time the transaction posted, so well done in respect to that.

Received another 2.9% for 6 months on all purchases offer in the mail for the Qantas Premium card.

I did not take up the last offer in August and Amex is really keen to get me paying interest again. May oblige until January unless they waive the $195 annual fee again.

Yep, I gave them a call on the 23rd, and they said they're looking into it.
