Maybe the Mods could change the thread title to "Yo-yoing!!! Help!!!"

European stock markets down 3% overnight
Dow Jones down 2.6%

Expect the Aussie market to follow today for about a 2% drop and further falls in the Aussie dollar

Euro is still pumping along at 0.696, but it was up to 0.71 a few days ago

I should have bought some $USD while it was (briefly) at 88c. I'm a fool for thinking it would continue to rise! Now at 84c :(

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!

1 AUD = 0.956 US

(and more importantly 1.27 SGD and 2.96 MYR)

If you can get that 0.956 USD from a bank good luck to you, although I was surprised that I got 0.9492 for 491.00 USD that I brought today. :D:D

How high will it go before it crashes is any ones guess. :?:

Gee you picked a great time to do that UK thing Flashware.
I am thinking London flat time as it makes a purchase very reasonable.

I remember a few of us were crying last time it reached close to parity. If you csn afford the cash then hedging may well be the way to go.

When it comes to shopping when the exchange rate is great remember that life is not a dress rehearsal. Four bags will fit somewhere on a plane.
Enjoy these good old days while they last!

This week has put a big smile on our faces with the zooming $Aud.
It appears our currency is in a big world play that no one can stop until the big speculators hit the sell button simultaneously.
The turnovers are so massive our Reserve Bank cannot do much.
Let's travel.

Currently in Vancouver.....:p but my impression is that the cost of living (groceries, fuel, transport etc) is higher in Canada than the US!

Other than rent and name drugs everything else in the US seems very reasonable compared to Canada and Australia. Retailers in Australia have been very slow cutting the cost of imported goods so clothes in the US seem amazingly low cost compared with here.
It is almost normal to go there for a shopping holiday.
I cannot afford to save any more money is a favourite saying.
