I totally agree with you here. My reason for suggesting TripIt would be that it required the least amount of effort by users here, not by admin himself. All that would be required would be to forward itinerary to TipIt, put a tick in a box that said 'Lounge Access' or something similar (depending how it was implemented) and it would be done.

In my opinion Drew, Tripit is nothing but a huge pain in the butt. Get an itinerary, email it to Tripit... fine if you book yourself, try having a corp agent making your bookings and your itinerary arrives 2 days after you fly...

Tripit forgot the KISS principle, hence, the purchase price (which doesn't worry me) was wasted money.

Also, how well does tripit work if you dont have an iPhone?

Im glad it works for you, I know notzac has also used it in the past, but with the effort required, I can't see this being the winning option - hell, some members won't even download a free app (FB) and simply post their lounge visits on there as well...!

For the anti FB squad, a recent MOD had a birthday.

On FB, quite a number of people wished him happy birthday FROM the AFF group. On the happy birthday thread on AFF, maybe 3 people wished him happy birthday, and if memory serves me correct, those 3 people had also wished Lindsay happy birthday on FB. Of the anti FB squad, not one managed a happy birthday wish on AFF.

Draw your own conclusions here, but even as JohnK correctly pointed out, 100% of AFF members use AFF, I dare say that the number of members also using FB or Twit is also a high number, and of that, the number of people who actually socialise on a regular basis such as the QLD drinks or the MEL drinks, a huge percentage of them people use FB.

Hell, the servers at FB go into overtime when the QLD drinks are on - sam alone uses 96.7% of the bandwidth letting the world know he's on the way to drinks with his friends, or a red car just passed him, or the trains late (sorry sam, not picking, using as you as an example).

The world is round, not flat, and believe it or not, we have more than 1 dimension.

Tripit would be fine if it did not try to second guess my routings. If there was a switch so that it automatically places all itineraries sent by me to it to "Unfiled Items". I could then put it where I want rather that that with the simplistic logic tripit currently uses.

e.g. With an around the world split into 4 journeys by 3 positioning booking coupled with numerous nested bookings, I often need to spend ¼ hour in finding where a recently emailed itinerary actually went!

Works just fine on a mobile browser (they have a version of their site for this) - also there are native apps for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.

You can do exactly this -- log in, click your name up the top and choose Settings, choose Email Settings from the left and uncheck the "Automatically place imported plans into trips" option down the bottom. Save. :)

Yes, but your travel itineraries are far from normal .. ;)

I appreciate that TripIt doesn't suit everyone, but it's certainly made my life a lot easier.

That would be new!

I sent some feed back quite a long time ago; received a reply they would look into it.

I have the TripIt shortcut app for Symbian, but it just points to TripIt mobile and its not really worth having. So in hindsight its complete cough

I usually kill a few trees when I fly and print all my travel documents and put them in my ticket wallet:mrgreen:

I was with you Bill but found my price-$US22 to be precise.By joining and adding to the HGI Napa page I get a free bottle of wine.:D:oops:

Absolutely. And drinking it right now.Not too bad.You know that studies continue to find that non-drinkers die earlier. So just looking after my health.

It's a proper app in Android and I find it quite helpful. I always have a copy of my itinerary in TripIt now.

I keep trying to explain this to people after my drinking episodes but they just do not believe me. :p Perhaps if I had an M.D after my name they would listen. ;)

OK. Thought it might be something exciting.
From my experience everything on Facebook is interesting and exciting.

OK,

I have fired up a FB page.

And turned everything off!

Not quite; your profile just showed up, as we now have one mutual friend, so it seems like you will add friends.

Yeah what Zac said; Tripit saved me a lot of time and hassle last year when the check in person said; "Where is your itinerary."

"On the Iphone, I hope tripit is ok" I said

Saved me a stack of paper.

Each to their own is important, that is why emails don't really work for me, as after a week they drop off the iphone email, and as I like really complicated itineraries where I might have 9 flights over 6 bookings using 4 airlines then tripit neatly puts them into a format everyone can understand.

I use My flights and checkmytrip to store my flight details. Only good for Amadeus of course but it suits me. I have a bit of an issue emailing my private info around willy nilly. Just a personal thing with no basis in reality.

You know, deep down, I might be using this as one of my barriers against trip it as well.
I don't even leave used boarding passes on planes or in hotels.... The thought of emailing my personal details to a complete stranger who's loyalty was purchased for $4.95 or whatever the cost was is surreal.
