What cheeses me off

Mum and brother want me to order Domino's pizza for them today.

2 value range pizzas for pickup are $6.99 each for total of $13.98 but if I want them delivered these same pizzas are $17 each. Seriously?

With meals delivery is total of $8 but with pizzas delivery is added to each pizza. FFS.

So why don’t you get a meal deal? Here in NSW two large pizzas with sides is $21 and delivered $28! More for less! :)

With delivery it's $29.99 but yes that's one option.

I was also stunned that Uber Eats have their own menu for Domino's and its exponentially expensive. Are people aware or they don't care? $25-$27 for a single Domino's pizza is sheer laziness.

We are in a Domino's delivery area.. just.. but you couldn't pay me to eat them whatever the cost
Our regular Pizza joint charges $22>$27 for a 12"" and delivery is $17 ( quite a way)

Oo! I have a dominos next door. Occasionally I feel ‘the need’. For $6 on a tuesday I can get a large pizza, pick up, loaded with cheese and pepperoni! Add some chili oil and it’s delicious!!

It’s ready in less than 10 minutes from me placing the order. Salt, fat and sugar. What more can you ask for :)

WCMO: At a lengthy appointment today. There are smart parking meters in the street. I pull in and select and pay for parking 0918-1305. Realising that the meeting is going to carry on a bit longer I return to the car at 1218 and extend parking from 1305 to 1410.
When I return to the car at 1353 there is a parking fine under the wiper. The notice indicates they checked the car at 1305 ( I was still covered at this time under the initial time at this time) and fine issued at 1307.
So I have to download receipts for payment showing I've paid until 1410 and I take a photo of the meter showing contiguous payment 0918 - 1410. I have submitted a "review request" and reasons and evidence. I don't work so I did have it in mind to turn up to court and show them up for fools.

The penalty notice itself would get thrown out in court because my initial payment was until 1305 and the penalty states times between 1.04 and 1.04PM
Anyway, I am really CO'd.

Well in the spirit of 'old-codger-i-ness' I think you really need to go to court and fight them. It's always a bit of fun to inconvenience people......whoever the council sends will be getting paid a very comfy wage in any event so let him pay the penalty of sitting around waiting for the beak to rule..

The Domino's is less than 200 metres from our place.

Wife and daughter love adding shredded mozzarella to the Ham & Cheese pizza and put in oven for 10-15 minutes. I usually have a slice.

Personally I love the generic Woolworths/Coles pizza especially marked down to $1 or $2. Add cheese, olives, mushroom and extra ham/salami and voila!

Replacement couch delivered yesterday (original order January 2025, issue flagged up 15 minutes after the delivery guys delivered the 1st one mid-April, months of back and forth and legal threats etc. to get the issue sorted, as their definition of 'manufacturing process tolerance' differs from mine!).

When the delivery crew arrived this time, they were like chalk and cheese - I didn't have a good feeling at all. At least the crew from the original delivery back in April filled me with confidence. The muppets last night..... did not. My fears were soon to be confirmed.

Once they got it up to the first floor, when they started putting the components together the back piece for one side (3 seater power recliner, so split into 2 pieces) was sitting in front of it (the guy was at the back) and I watched in what felt like slo mo ...... the guy take no care at all, and dragged the back piece across as he lifted it from the front. He didn't even think about the bit of metal it has and sure enough left a great big scratch on the new leather cushioning.

Then........... the electric functions won't work, it's like they're getting half power or something. I watched them offload the boxes from the truck and roll (yes, you read that right, roll them over and over!) the boxes towards our front door. That can't be good for it........... maybe it's the reason why that fault now exists? Fortunately I have that on CCTV. There was a moment where it did work, so one side is fully extended........... and it's now stuck there.

Anyway, you really couldn't make it up could you? :) It was not cheap at all, either. I had an engineer come out re: fault on the original couch and that was a 3.5 week wait the first time, then 2.5 weeks on the 2nd time (which was an escalation). So I'm now waiting for the engineer (contracted) to contact me and tell me what date they can come, but essentially I'm stuck with a couch that I can't use, a couch that is damaged, a couch that's taking up space in the room as I can't retract the seat....... and an undetermined wait for someone to even come out and assess it! If I do decide to keep it (and they fix the damage, etc.) I'll be asking for a hefty compensation payment. Either that, or I'll just be requesting a full refund (which is also on the table) and we'll go back on the hunt for a replacement couch, meaning we'll be down 1 couch for another 3-4 months as that's the usual build time.

Name and shame
I would want a full refund asap even if I had to sit on milk crates for a year
These products are not fit for purpose and you will always be anxious about whether they last the distance and that things will continue to go wrong.
You have lost confidence in them - with good reason
If this is how they are before you git the goods imagine the world of pain in after hours disservice

Yep, absolutely. We are unfortunately on couch number 3 now in our bid to replace the old one, hence my apprehensiveness to go down the refund route.......... as we're then back to square one trying to find one :( 18 months wasted on this process so far. 2 different suppliers and 2 different couches so far.

Our place is 3 stories and the lounge room is on the 1st floor, which had a side balcony on it but then you need a forklift / crane etc. to get it up there, so the best option is still up the stairs. But, that limits what you can then choose as you need something that essentially comes in pieces.

We've got a cheapy as our 2nd sofa in the room (Model 05 3 Seater Sofa | Contemporary Sofas | Swyft) and this one worked well as it came in pieces, so easy to get up/down the stairs. The appeal of the leather power recliner 3 seater was that it splits in 2, so again, easy to get up/down the stairs.

Back to the drawing board.......

Do you have a favorite couch that can be reupholstered? When we moved four years ago to a place with three huge living rooms we faced this issue. I inherited a mid century couch and chairs which are the most comfortable I ever sat on. Color and fabric was awful but it was worth the price to update with a stunning new fabric. It beat anything else I could find

Alas, a Friday night contribution (sober too; it's that bleak).

We're renovating bathrooms (or perhaps fast-tracking a divorce... jk jk). Builder recommended a stone supplier he'd worked with. We went through 4 versions of quotes for different stones, with and then without installation as builder said their installation costs were too high and he'd do it himself after they delivered. All quotes indicated free delivery for the stone we chose. Settled on it and off we go. No dramas.

When it came time to site measure, we assumed having worked together before that builder and measurer would be in sync on specifics. Apparently not. After site measure, both sides gave conflicting reports of what was ready or missing and why --- they'd clearly not discussed the scope at all beforehand. Measurer also left without confirming what he'd done and thus didn't address one of the items at all, which added to the confusion. The builder called and got the run-around, at which point I heard him give them an earful (not a curse-laden, abusive earful, but certainly a frustrated, irritated one). I also heard him apologise for getting frustrated at whoever he was speaking to. I wasn't happy about any of this, and I called them to discuss, and then put the onus on the builder to make things right, which was probably for the best given the stone company couldn't have made it more obvious they didn't think it was their problem and weren't going to do anything about it. Not impressed, but it is what it is; things happen.

Fine, back on track, albeit was a brief delay. Time to cut some stone. Except whoops --- now we've entered a doom loop of being promised status updates but never receiving them. All week, we were told they'd call back with clarity "today or tomorrow morning", but they never did. At one point, we were even promised an e-mail "within half an hour" and it simply... didn't come. It's bewildering as we've taken great care to ensure we're professional and respectful when we contact them.

In their last substantive communication several days ago (but in which they still couldn't tell us when the stone would be ready), they also incorrectly indicated that the stone was to be collected, not delivered. On this I also sought clarity, politely reminding them they'd spoken to our builder who confirmed we needed delivery before they prepared the final quote, and referring them back to the quotes and their representations that this specific stone came with delivery, even if they weren't installing it. No response to this either. Given the interactions to date, I sense more conflict ahead. The last thing I want to do is put my solicitor hat on, but it's just become one of those experiences that's almost bewildering in how bizarrely poor the communication, coordination, and service has been. I genuinely can't tell if it's deliberate, incompetent, or just zero sense of EQ or service recovery.

This company has almost entirely positive reviews. that seem legitimate The builder has worked with them before, though he's now shocked and flabbergasted and repeatedly apologised telling us he has no idea what's going on as the've never acted like this. Every interaction we'd had with them through the initial process had been amicable and positive. Which makes it all the more bewildering. Try as I might to self-assess if I'm being ridiculous or unreasonable, I just can't land on that conclusion. It's gotten to the point where it very much feels like the initial spat with the builder has led to an overtly antagonistic, indifferent attitude towards us as their clients, even despite him apologising and doing precisely what they insisted needed to be done.

So, alas, another week has gone by with absolutely nothing getting done, and worse, feeling our project is deliberately being delayed and jerked around for sport by someone with a grudge or on a power trip. And I feel I can do nothing about it because it will only make it worse as they know we have smashed up bathrooms and are stuck relying on them.

Thank you for attending my rant. Other house building / reno stories welcome to make me feel like this isn't just me stuck in the twilight zone!

Unfortunately not. When we moved in the removalists hoisted up over the balcony and in via the 1st floor side entrance. That rhing was comfy as heck.... Unfortunately, it met its match with a bandsaw and many hours of FB's swear. It was only after the 2nd replacement that I got rid of it, I was still unsure after the 1st replacement (rightly so it turned out!).
