Without wanting to veer too far off track, does anyone have any recommendations of such other merchants who may somewhat regularly offer decent deals on Champagne and sparkling? I have had extremely minimal luck finding much that looks good value on VM over the years.

Aldi, Veuve Monsigny Premier Cru for $40 is a bit of a bargain for the quality. On the bready, biscuity side if that floats your boat

Personally I cannot drink sparkling red because it gives me headaches. But anyway Couldn't find an old, unwrapped version on VM. So I searched for premium sparkling shiraz, 2005, McLaren Vale - surely there cannot be many fitting the bill here - & popped up this wine pilot review, (which is a 95 pointer). I may be wrong...
