Probably a newbie question, but is there a general consensus as to the likelihood of a flight being cancelled when Qantas is proactively presenting you with the following in the app?
For reference, I’m on the last flight out of MEL for SYD. I don’t really want to shift if I don’t have to. Can’t really see any delays in MEL or SYD, and the operating aircraft appears to be running to schedule (for now).
Last flight of the day, or first flight of the day, can be "problematic".
I dont have a crystal ball, but maybe, there is a possibility that the flight might be cancelled.
If you have a look at incoming and ougoing flights, on flight aware website, QF and JQ really make their planes work very hard, imagine doing 4 cycles of PER -> MEL, MEL -> SIN, SIN -> PER, PER -> MEL, all with the same edit, plane, sorry, and with a very narror turn around time, if you do track incoming plane, over say 3 days, the cycles can be brutal.
Maybe last flight of the day, can be cancelled, more so than others.
I thought, in reality, told on here not, so, that if a plane goes techno, they drag any other plane to fill in, but nope, they will cancel flight if the plane goes techno.
I always dread, sitting at the gate, and any announcements come on, "we regret due to a major technical fault, you flight has had to be cancelled", so far, its been "due to the late arrival of your incoming flight, there has been a delay to the expected departure time of your flight to Sydney, your expected departure time is now expected to be 2.15pm, thank you".
