The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

What are seats 15A/K like on the A380? Thinking of switching over from halfway down the rear cabin but hesitating because of the proximity to the lavatory and galley.
Sat there a couple of times. Surprisingly not noisy (from flush and farts 😂). 13A/K are the true gems (as proper window seats).

What route? If Row 11 opens at T-80, they’re good seats and not an issue from the lounge if you’re up there also! 😉

Can anyone think of a reason other than my upgrade request is a bit broken when the flight I'm taking is now T-12h, there's over 14 open J, we're the only 2 points upgrades and we're WP/SG.

We did however split the ticket up into 2 PNRs.

What’s the flight? Hiw do you know you’re the only two points upgrades?

Another reason might be that they are going to consolidate flights?

Because i can see the staff travel. And no theyre not consolidating NRT flights.

Hiw did you go with the upgrade? Was the cabin indeed empty?

I counted ~12 occupants in J on a 333.

Upgrade didn't go through. At check-in they could see my upgrade was requested, but I'm not on the upgrade list. Call centre also thinks the upgrade got attached to my split booking but not my partners and the computer doesn't know what to do with a solo passenger booking with 2 pax upgrade request.

I also lost control of the upgrade process - i should've just asked them to clean it up by cancelling the request then putting it back in.

Anyone recall a Double Points offer for flights to USA?

SYD+1 just received a stash of points from - we assume - flight(s) last month SYD-HNL (ret) booked in Feb.

We’d already received points and DSCs.

Alas, no mystery points for me so far! 🤔

Might have been this one?

That covers the dates and SYD+1 recalled a USA/Canada promo but neither of us can find an email.

Edit:
That promo was discussed here:
It was "Register and book". SYD+1 and I probably registered anyway (despite having existing bookings) but doubt it was that one - unless a eTicket re-issue triggered it? You wouldn't think so?

It was booked in February though?
Yes, had to re-book something originally booked in October last year.

It was PE and we received 12000 pts (as WPs) and 4x 70 SCs (DSCs).

SYD+1 has received 2x 6000 pts - which I’m guessing is just the base earn as Bronze for SYD-HNL each way?

Is this new? Just got handed this for a snack on mel - Syd. Pretty sure my last flight down late August was still cheese and crackers.

PS. Tastes alright but not spicy.

Question I feel is probably best in here rather than it's own thread.
My soon wife and I are planning to head to Japan for our honeymoon just after Easter next year. I have a large mound of QFF points, so I'll be using them to book all the flights, preferably in premium cabins.
I have found routing SYD-(Y)-SIN-(J)-HND-(Y)-(HKG)-(Y+)-SYD for both of us now for the dates we're after as a lowly Bronze.
Question is, due to the DSC offer and a business trip to Singapore in mid-October, I'll be catapulting back to SG. Thoughts on if I should book now, wait and book as SG or even book now and then change class with the appropriate change fee (if seats come up and IF I can even do this) once I hit SG?
Also, if I'm better off making a new post, I can fix that up :)

I reckon if you can see flights that work for you now, grab them. If you have a mountain of points, worry about change fees and optimisation once you hit SG, knowing you’ve at least secured something if nothing better shows up.

Book now. You won't see more flights especially during that period of the time. Im looking late march options and its pretty bare even in Y so I'm probably going to go transit again.

If you do see more J flights or different options later, cop the change fee difference. Its well worth it.

Yeah I've got more than enough points to cover any change fees, thanks for the advice.
I did find there was routing via Malaysia quite often as well so throw that into your mix potentially? We're doing a layover in Singapore for a few days purely for this reason.
