LHR T3 lounge crawl Saturday 6 June 2026

With luggage or carry on only as well?

The counters opened 4 hours before departure. I'm not sure whether you would be able to go through earlier if you checked in online and had no checked bags. Maybe it's possible?

A friendly reminder for those planning to come along that the booking window for flights will be opening soon.

And make sure again that it departs from T3.
What is the general consensous on departure times - the late night flights back to Asia and Australia? I will be going somewhere in Europe, so don;t worry, not competing for your FF seats :)

Am looking at options as the booking windows open. Can get to LON a few days earlier; Being Finnair's home, HEL may be a better destination for a oneworld booking. Last flight on AY currently 6pm'ish ...

Something to note
Seems there may be plans afoot to amalgamate oneworld lounges at T3 - this from a BA staffer on that thread back in February.

However, "The OX is slow, but the earth is patient" - likely not going to affect this social event.

Considering how quickly BA and LHR operate, I reckon we are safe. 🤣

What time will the meet-up at LHR be at approximately?
I planning to go PVG-HEL-LHR the night before on AY and can arrive on several different flights to London.

I started our bookings while on route to the 2025 lounge crawl. I have flights into LHR around 8-9 days before the crawl and out of CDG around a week after. I had planned for a solo trip however Mrs&MissM are tagging along, MissM may yet pull out. I have not yet booked the flights out of LHR on the day of the crawl but they will most likely be on the AY LHR-HEL.

Now Platinum - managed to combine a Qantas oneworld award to get to FT do in DRW two weeks earlier with this.

Departing T3 to HEL 1810 ...

OK, bit the bullet and booked PVG-HEL-LHR, on the evening of 5 June 2026, for 90k Qantas points and what turned out to be a measly $40 in taxes.

Plan is as follows:
- I will not be having any checked baggage.
- The HEL-LHR section I was lucky enough to get a AirLounge Seat, which I gather is "better than Eurobusiness" with the hard product at least as good as international premium economy (thoughts?)
- I will take a taxi from LHR to Windsor Castle to do some sightseeing in the morning, it is the big thing in that area that I have never been to. I will come back to the airport to meet up with everyone for a late lunch.
- I will then take a BA flight late in the day, probably to Oslo or Vienna. Then to Dublin from there.
- Qantas has a nasty trick up its sleeve: if you book an AY redemption and then tack a BA short sector after that, then you get charged with the full cost of the BA sector, even if it is within 24 hours. So I will simply book an economy cash fare. Can I still come on the pub crawl if I don't have status with OneWorld (I do with Star Alliance!) and travelling onward in whY?

Would like to hear your suggestions on how I can enhance my experience.

What plane type on HEL-LHR? If its not the A350 then it'll be the usual euro business with blocked middle seat.

I'd suggest a rental car or even the bus, far cheaper. Rental car is better if time sensitive.

Plenty of people to guest you in, travelling Y without OW status.

Flashback: I'm flying on the A350. Just found out it is actually a flat bed.
I still don't fancy driving on day one of a trip to Europe - and I would be wanting to maximize time efficiency on a half-day trip to Windsor.
Is the food any good in the LHR lounges? Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and do they have fish fingers/chips? Did you come across any other good English food?

Yes, there's plenty. CX F lounge has F&C. Not sure of any that do a Yorkshire pud or roast beef though. CX F's menu does rotate a bit so they might have a roast dinner, although maybe unlikely for the summer menu.

Have a look through Viator or GetYourGuide perhaps for a half day tour, that can do a pickup from LHR?

Has any one booked J rewards AY LHR-HEL on the 18:10. I only ask as I was sure there was good availability a couple of weeks back, as of yesterday there was only 1 J reward left. There are 3 of us so we have 1 in J and 2 in Y with MissM and myself being in the back of the bus.
