Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Has anyone noticed the meal trays in J on the A220s bulge upwards when they have hot food on them? It causes plates/bowls to move and even spin. The trays don’t fit the tables terribly well either!

I’ll submit feedback.

Yes, it’s not dissimilar on the 737 either… I think the trays are the same? The bowls certainly are.

The bowls are terrible, take note David Caon.

QF34 PER-SYD Fri 13 June 789 VH-ZNK "Gangurru" sched dep 1030 actual pushback 1106(engineering issue) takeoff 1125(03).

Another work trip to SYD, but with the pleasure of MrsDrJ’s company this time. Waited a while to get underway, and unfortunately didn’t make up the time (though given recent events in India, very thankful that this 787 had a smooth, safe flight). Good to be in real J again, very good service by CSM Michelle and FA Amanda, who coped well with the demands of a very full and busy J cabin.

Swift service of PDB of Jacquart, IMO the best of the J inflight Champagnes.

The menu:

Good to see the short rib still on the menu, albeit with slightly different accompaniments to QF33 3 weeks ago. Was even better though with a good portion of very tender beef, one of the best J mains I have had in a long time. As the reds on offer didn't sound inspiring, stuck with the Jacquart which paired surprisingly well with the meat.
MrsDrJ had the prawn salad and gave it the thumbs up.

Closed the innings with the usual int J cheese platter, and was happy to help the crew deal with the problem of an unfinished bottle of Jacquart. The advertised "french press coffee" turned out to be unavailable, so passed on the not so great standard brewed coffee.

Overall a very good flight.

QF 1279 A220 service CBR-MEL today. Only one meal choice offered -Quattro formaggio pizza. Looked OK but the crust managed to be simultaneously too hard to cut with the knife provided but also soggy. And way way way too much pesto- it was all you could taste. Not a fan.

Nothing else offered - no bread, no leaves, no tea or coffee. 🙁

Oh dear... I made the mistake of opting for that meal choice once before and vowed to never order it again! 😵‍💫

No leaves @Seat0B but you did get a Lindt chocolate 🤭

I hope the offerings in the Lounge were sufficiently appetizing to tide you over. 🤞

I don't fly the CBR-MEL route much so I am curious if no bread/side offered what was the empty plate on the left for? Generally curious. Did the Lindt ball come on it?

Not sure I count four cheeses there.

Doesn't appear to be a sauce base and I debate the crust.... the Finnish made a pizza to insult Italians, I think we have an emerging contender...

Well food was a bit of a low point all round for QF yesterday. The lounge lunch offering was … pesto fusilli salad which looked like a lot of carbs coated in pesto. There was also soup and bread roll (didn’t look what type it was) and enough on the toastie fillings that you could get some ham or a nice pastrami, cheese, carrot, beetroot and leaves, which is what I went with.

A very good question indeed @penny6. The Lindt ball was not placed on the plate. So I really have no clue as to the purpose of the second plate for yesterday’s flight. Maybe they just have a standard plate/tray layout regardless of what is served? I was disappointed that there was no hot drink option as at least a cuppa and a Lindt ball would have been an OK snack.
