Qantas Business Class meals & menus

A pre departure drink? On Qantas Domestic??? And it’s not even just water or water like it was for a long time?

Then again. It looks radioactive green- what was in it? Parsley and Kale? 🤢 🤢 🤢

I've only flown Qantas business class a couple of times and was surprised to not be offered a pre departure drink. It's always been offered on Virgin and they seem to always have 2 meal options.
I assumed Qantas would have the better business offering, but Virgin seems to do a better job of it - at least in my experience, mostly flying CBR > MEL
In the last year I have been given a PDB (still or sparkling water only) once on QF domestic J when flying the 738 between MEL and SYD. Oddly nothing ever on the 332 or 333 between MEL and SYD or MEL/SYD and PER. Maybe the occasional PDB is consolation for flying on a 738 and not in the J suite on the 332/333?

Something or other that's meant to be healthy. I'm not usually into such concoctions but was so excited to see a pre-departure drink, I took it. The day prior on MEL to BNE they didn't even hand out a water bottle on the flight!

Yep, even that little bottle of water is hit and miss, especially on the shorter triangle runs. I don’t think I’ve seen it on any of my recent SYD-MEL flights…

Bottles of water seem consistent on Alliance Airlines operated flights, based on the recent slew of E90 flights I've flown on

And on most (if not all) my A220 flights this year - a usual QF Link thing over the years, if memory serves.

Recent MEL-CGK-MEL trip

MEL-CGK

PDD offered, started taking meal orders, but did not take mine ??

Drinks cart came through after take off, non alcoholic for me (have been suffering recently when even having one alcoholic drink in the sky)

Meals started coming out offered the prawn gyoza, fortunately that was what I was planning to choose.

Mains come out and I’m given the chicken, not my favourite, so I asked for another option, and the staff member says but you ordered chicken, and I say no, no one took my meal order, anyway was able to swap for the beef which was medium well, mousse for desert, I took a pic of the menu forgot the actual food pics 🤷‍♂️ I was not upset re the meal order as I was able to get what I wanted, just odd they did not see it was not noted down earlier.

Staff member came back later an apologised for not taking the order confusion before takeoff apparently.

CGK-MEL

I am glad I had something in the lounge as the food was very poor on the flight.

Meal order was taken this time though 😀

PDD of the usual, but the pre dinner drink was shambolic, just wanted a sparkling water and juice, but it was forgotten, waiting for a while everyone had their drinks, had to grab attention of staff , nuts did not arrive til part way through mains 🤷‍♂️

Main virtually inedible , main and desert served at the same time on the tray, I had chosen the pasta, was stale congealed mess, cheese was dry crackers stale and soft.

Lady across the aisle had the beef curry, she appeared to take one or two bites then abandoned it, so maybe also not nice.

When I let staff know it was not very good, got a shrug no offer of alternative, so rolled over to sleep.

No breakfast card offered.

Unfortunately the gentleman in the chair in front continued to order drinks beyond when he should have been cut off, and serenaded the cabin all the way to Melbourne so not much sleep was had, even with my earplugs and noise cancelling headphones in, staff mostly ignored him though several people complained, they would ask him to be quiet, he’d say sorry then just keep going , so drunk he was lolling in his seat, need two cabin crew to assist to get him seated safely for landing.

Breakfast they just pushed a trolly through, offered a muffin (which was actually nice) and tea. As they rolled past saw other dishes and juice on a lower tray, so asked for a juice as well.

This felt like the most shambolic service I’ve ever had , though not quite the worst flight, was a bit grumpy when I got out the other end as Mel airport immigration and customs was a disaster, it continues to amaze me how bad the arrival experience is :(

Was he an Aussie?

QF849 DRW to PER

No PDB but bottle of water at the seat. Four main options offered. This was sold as lamb and potatoes. Wasn't bad but wasn't great either. A lessor cut slow cooked. Finally some chocolate.

One of the options was beef tortellini. They also announced the Y meals. The hot option...also beef tortellini. Call me a cynic but I'd be willing to wager it was the same dish, just presented differently.

I should also add. A pretty disinterested cabin crew and a constant parade of Y pax to the J toilets.
