Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Interesting marketing concept. Don't take new customers when you have a wine glut.
It's not a public consumer offering. It's a family and friends site with a consistent 20%ish off all their brands, not a clearance site. I don't think they are looking for customers via that particular channel, given they would likely push clearance stock as needed through other channels.

Just logged in as I hadn't been on FWC for a while. Just noticed they have MMAD wines. Got to say that blewitt springs grenache for $49 is a good price. That's not really a wine I've ever been able to come by a discount on and I've been pretty tempted to get my hands on some at the retail given the reviews.
couldn't resist, especially with free shipping over $50 so two bottles delivered for $98 was enough for me, been meaning to try this one for ages! Has anyone here had any?

As mentioned, it's Magarey Lane. It lacks a bit of grip on the finish, but well worth buying at that price. They also have the cabernet for the same price, which I prefer - amazing value for a 2016 of that quality. Vinomofo have it for $35, BTW.

I suspect it probably is a public clearance site to some extent, that makes a few hundred punters feel they are secret insiders (I’ve never ever logged onto it though).
I’m it’s assuming it’s like Cellar One, for “friends and family”.
I can tell you that the ACTUAL Accolade employees are able to buy wines on the Cellar One website way cheaper than the discounts we see.
I assume Joval Wines/ vAmici is the same.

Still, If they have what you want, it's better than paying retail!

Funnily enough they don't want previous finewineco customers either! Despite their login page saying "Are you an existing friend of finewineco? Simply reset your password to access your new vAmici account." if you contact them with an issue related to that they'll instruct you (a week later) to find a friend at Joval wines to refer you! I put it down to poor customer service.

Would there be any Joval friends and family member be able to send me an invitation via pm?

I actually got this in January so I might try the Cabernet 👍

Hi everyone, new here.

I've come across this site which is the family and friends portal for Joval wines. Site used to be Finewineco - vAmici

Would anyone have the ability to invite new members by any chance?
I just emailed them and asked to get access. ("Could I please get access to your website so I could purchase some of your fabulous wines, Kind regards etc etc). The sent me an invite link and even $25 voucher for a purchase greater than $150.

At the time I emailed to [email protected] and now their email address is [email protected]

Hope it helps.
nice, well done :)
  • WELCOME25 - $25 off $150
FineWineCo had some sharp deals, but lately I've gone a bit cold on them. Really only buy Pio Cesare and a few other Barolos from them now. Gone are the days of $70 Coleraine and impossibly cheap Duval Leroy :(
Coleraine's RRP has increased - Femme was a clearance / price error

The Femme De Champagne still leaves warm memories! Still have a couple of bottles from one of the greatest scoops on this forum IMO ;)

FYI - To access vAmici I just needed to reset my password that I use to use for finewineco but maybe better to email them for a new registration and get the $25 voucher as per advice from @olympicwiz above
you missed or didn't receive their email last November about the changeover? :( it offered $50 off $200 with VAMICI50 (expired, unlike WELCOME25)

as someone who has access to both Joval and vAmici, i can confirm that the latter is a true f&f offering wholesale prices (LUC + GST)

I just did a password reset and logged in...nothing special at the moment.

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on Place of Changing Winds?
  • minimum 6 bottles via mailing list - cheaper than retail with free delivery

tl;dr - I don't think the value proposition is quite right personally.

Bought a few vintages, heard good things and was thinking of adding them to the roster of annual purchases. Most are in the cellar waiting on the right time/age to drink.

The ones I've had have been good, but I struggle to justify them on my personal value scale.

Moss Wood Index (MWI) - would I rather be drinking a Moss Wood Cabernet.
Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Index (LEASI) - would I rather be drinking a LEAS Chardonnay.

The Larderdark is pricier than LEAS, and I would rather have been drinking the LEAS. Obviously the Pinots are not as directly comparable, they are very good in the kind of way that serious Pinots are.

FWIW I have stopped buying.
so WA / Margies is your benchmark? seems bit parochial? :)

for chardonnay, mine would perhaps be: Bindi Quartz, Giaconda, Leeuwin Art Series, Pierro, Savaterre

however, given the skyrocketing prices of top Aussie chardonnay, the best value is easily Kumeu River imo

Mike Bennie rates 2022 Larderdark much better than 2023 (96 vs 93pts), and it can still be purchased for significantly less than the latter :)
