Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Thanks! I ordered 6 of the 2018 Cape Mentelle Wallcliffe Cabernet Franc Petit Verdot. Could not find any reviews of it, possibly CD only. Bought on the strength of the wine maker. Anyone had it?
I was also tempted by it as I like the winery. But I got put off by the Huon Hooke review.

Surely the 1847 Grand Pappy’s Shiraz at $45 down from $320 !! 😆😂🤔😆😂🤪
What?!? Are you trying to suggest that bottles of 1847 and Chateau Yaldara wines aren't worth the ~$500 RRPs they're usually offered for? Think of the savings over buying Grange or Hill of Grace! ;)

When I can buy eleventy billion dollars worth of wine for a few hundred bucks, that's surely gotta be a steal, right?! 🤣

'21 Utopos Grenache for $39 looks the goods to me!!
I've tried First Pick and Grand Pappy's 2021 vintage bought at around $60 and they are pretty good wines at that price, especially the First Pick.
But didn't go for the 2020's.
I did go for the Utopos, a couple of Marsicans, some Terra Sancta Mysterious Diggings and one bottle of Curtis Octavian to try.

Goodness, I have a "mystery wine" coming from Brown Brothers, the Petaluma from Cellar Door co, and a couple of other wines from Vinomofo 🙈 And thats on top of the Henschke that arrived last week 😂

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on Place of Changing Winds?
tl;dr - I don't think the value proposition is quite right personally.

Bought a few vintages, heard good things and was thinking of adding them to the roster of annual purchases. Most are in the cellar waiting on the right time/age to drink.

The ones I've had have been good, but I struggle to justify them on my personal value scale.

Moss Wood Index (MWI) - would I rather be drinking a Moss Wood Cabernet.
Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Index (LEASI) - would I rather be drinking a LEAS Chardonnay.

The Larderdark is pricier than LEAS, and I would rather have been drinking the LEAS. Obviously the Pinots are not as directly comparable, they are very good in the kind of way that serious Pinots are.

FWIW I have stopped buying.

Excellent value scale

I won’t feel too bad then.
I emailed vAmici asking for access and got a generic brush off email
Just logged in as I hadn't been on FWC for a while. Just noticed they have MMAD wines. Got to say that blewitt springs grenache for $49 is a good price. That's not really a wine I've ever been able to come by a discount on and I've been pretty tempted to get my hands on some at the retail given the reviews.
