UpgradeMe pricing and success

Flying MEL-BNE this afternoon and had an upgrade of minimum + $15 accepted at T-25.

Only booked the tickets at T-26, J was going for nearly $1000(!) so bought a Choice fare and rolled the dice with the upgrade. Happy to fly J for well less than half the (somewhat ridiculous) asking price.
Somewhat similar - I flew BNE-MEL on Wed 03/04, full J ticket, but only booked Y for the return MEL-BNE 07/04 yesterday afternoon / evening as they wanted over $1000 for J. Bid $100 ($10 over minimum) and got the upgrade

I'm going to take a chance 1st timer with Virgin but a victim of the Bonza collapse. I've bid min+5 on both BNE-MEL AND MEL-LST for 11th June still 4J seats on 1st leg and 8J on 2nd leg. Don't know what my chances are but I'll give it a crack.

I'm confused by the first sentence as Bonza never flew those routes.....

This thread has been rather quiet lately.

Interesting to note that Economy Lite fares (formerly Getaway) are no longer eligible to upgrade using an upgrade bid (or Velocity points).
I haven't seen any data points since @Mattg original post on Economy Lite fares, so quick update from me...... it is now possible to upgrade some? all? Economy Lite fares through the UpgradeMe process, just had both my legs of a super cheap Economy Lite fares successfully upgraded through UpgradeMe. These were purchase during the "Queensland is Calling campaign", so were sold at half the cost of a normal Lite fare, with a minimal bid, so a very low cost business seat as a result.

Still holding out hope of J all the way BNE to LST via MEL 3xJ on BNE to MEL and 8xJ MEL to LST still remaining hoping for 1xJ Seat . 16 days until I fly. Hoping for a positive outcome.

I doubt very much you’ll get upgrades for 8 passengers on the same booking on MEL-LST. The entire cabin is only 8 seats, so this could only work if nobody else has bought any of the business class seats on your flight.

I'm only 1 pax looking for 1 J seat that's what's still available.

Now there was a misread. Haha.
I read it as poster after just 1 J seat yet Matt read it as hoping for 8 J upgrades on a single flight..did make me laugh.

Minimum was $320 IIRC, I bid $360 for a bit of a buffer.
Confirmed successful approx 12 hours before flight (EF was showing 2 spare J seats the day before)

Still 3J seats on both my flights at present. How far in advance do people generally get notified if they are successful? I depart 0955 Tuesday I am only after 1J seat.

Usually day of the flight from past experience. I got waitlisted for an upgrade to Business with points. Flight was at 3:05; got off the waitlist (I guess after people had paid for their upgrades) at 10:30. They want to make as much money as possible from the seat.
