Hi Alan,
Happy Friday!
I let you know about some
Hutton Vale Shiraz last week as part of the Mayhem sale. But today I really wanted to shine a light on these wines as they are quite probably the best Shiraz deals we've had in the last twelve months. This is a seriously boutique producer, with
Kim Tuesner as winemaker and
cuttings from the Mt Edelstone vineyard. Our buyer, Tully, had to work incredibly hard to get these wines on board, and they deserve a lot of love and attention. Tully told us yesterday that these are "possibly the best deals she's brought on board for
Vinomofo yet". If you get one premium Shiraz from us this year, definitely make it one of these.
Owned by the Angas family (yes,
that Angas family), Hutton Vale Farm is an iconic piece of Barossa history. Having reared various stock on the Hutton Vale Farm for over a century, in 1987, John Duval (iconic Penfolds Grange winemaker) mentored the family and helped them produce their first wines in 1987. Their Shiraz vines, planted in 1960, are from cuttings taken from the Mt Edelstone vineyard which, while now part of Henschke's incredible portfolio, was actually planted by Ronald Angas in 1912. The provenance of these wines is astounding, and we're incredibly lucky to be able to sell some of their stock!
We gave these a try in the office yesterday, and as well as being absolutely beautifully presented, these wines are incredibly high quality, and even at full RRP are great value.
