Booked on American Airlines domestic as a Qantas Classic Reward business U ticket. Wondering does that get me into AA lounges in the US?

No. No class of cabin access on domestic flights.

But welcome to AFF!

Thanks - disappointing with a 3 hour layover in Phoenix!

Oh you're not missing much there. PHX ACs are terrible - I've seen larger broom closets!

If you're desperate you can get a day pass. Not cheap though (money probably better spent at a cafe)

Are you connecting to/from an international flight that's also in business? You'd be in luck if that's the case (assuming it's QF or oneworld)

If you if you are QF Gold or above or the equivalent with another one world carrier you would get access based on the OW rules.

I always forget about the QP membership :D
One perk that hasn’t been enhanced!

There’s another thread about someone going for PC+ to get lounge access across America!

I assumed OP had no status - I would think if you had Gold Status (or even QP membership) you'd know you were entitled to AA AC entry - but could be wrong.

But hopefully the connecting flight rule might be in play - even if the PHX lounges aren’t anything to write home about. I suspect they haven’t even had a lick of paint since US days (when I last passed through).

Not always the case, I work with someone that had no idea that his SG status gave him access to the QP, he thought he was getting access as he was also a paid up QP member. It is fair to suggest that once he realised this he stopped paying for QP membership. MrsM is another, she is QF WP and has no idea which lounges she can access, flying out of the US last year she wanted to know why we couldn't access the AA flagship lounge which she has been to before. I informed her we were flying out of EWR with SQ, her answer was why didn't we fly SQ from JFK so she could go to the AA lounge. MrsM maybe a fringe case as the only reason she has WP status as it is gifted.

You can't pay for QP membership and be SG on the same account. It gets suspended automatically and they send you a letter advising as such.

If you are connecting same day off an international long haul flight (five or more hours) you’ll get lounge access based on the class of service for the international flight. So if you arrive BA business class into Phoenix you’ll have access. Entirely US itineraries you won’t.

I didn't know this it is only what he had informed me. He is also pretty cashed up and maybe thought he was still paying for QP membership, he also has no interest in flying and would be a prime candidate for not knowing what his status benefits are. Years back his EA used occasionally ring me to ask which flights/ carriers she should book him on as she also was none the wiser.

OP is quoting fare buckets and joined a FF forum... don't think they're one of these people ;)

Correction - All Admirals Clubs are terrible. They're all pretty much the same - crowded and offering soup and cheese in disposable containers. Alcohol costs extra, as does proper food ($14 for a toastie in the lounge anyone?)

The good lounges on the network are the flagship lounges and Soho/Chelsea/Greenwich in JFK.

Incorrect on all accounts, some are really nice and most are fine. PHX is especially terrible.

Food varies. Can be quite good. On average I‘d say on par with Qantas Clubs these days.

Basic beer, wine and spirits are free. As much as you want (no ticket system)

You’re describing the ACs of 20 years ago.
