Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

so to recap, no set date on which the travel ban will be removed, just 'November'?

for anyone, trying to book a YE/Xmas trip to Europe, plenty of options for outbound in Nov/Dec. Limited options at this stage for outbound in Jan besides QF. Hopefully the likes of EK/QR/SQ will start selling those tickets soon to SYD if no caps for vaccinated travellers

The concession is likely being made for the international student market from China, but better would be to require them to get a booster of another better vaccine on arrival (user pays of course and 14 days iso for them til it kicks in)
I'm sure they'd be happy to get the more effective 'Western' vaccines too.

Pure Health advice would see the banning of alcohol, cigarettes, fast cars, plane travel etc. It's advice. Not a way of life.

Sure... but I can personally choose not to drink, smoke or gamble. I can't necessarily find out if the person next to me has been vaccinated with a vaccine that actually works.

You can also personally choose not to have a vaccine in Australia.

Edit:
Like them or not, it is the WHO who declares for a pandemic, and the WHO declares for vaccines at an international level. Otherwise it would be every country for itself.

Well currently I can't choose to travel interstate or overseas to see family even though they and I am double vaxxed. Because of Health advice. I'm done with it tbh.

But hang on… are the lockdown lovers still pushing the “but a vaccine doesn’t stop you passing it on” line?

You can chose which vaccine you get, then it doesn’t matter what the person sitting next to you has received.

But as long as you, the individual, has taken the action of being vaccinated with a "reputable" vaccine that should be acceptable?

Alternative would be saying people vaccinated with less "reputable" vaccines must be segregated from others in social situations, or not in social situations at all.

Sure but you can't tell if the driver of the car coming in the other direction to you is drunk, high on drugs or has just dropped his hot coffee on to his groin and is about to move directly into your path.

What a friday afternoon they had tho!

Hmm we have a trip to New Zealand planned for January. I was hoping the travel bubble with NZ would be back up and running by then.

Not keen to factor in 7 days home quarantine on return.

Disagree, you could use stand alone AirBNB as I understand whish would be classified same as home, or even if you have a home, as long as you can isolate independently to rest of your family (my case) you can. You just need separate bedroom, toilet and bathroom, and not leave there or interact with family.
On that point, given that compliance with home quarantine will be monitored by technology, does anyone really think that you will get a knock on the door from someone wanting to check that you are not only at home but also alone?

The technology which is being trialled in SA is apparently quite rigorous and a couple of people have abandoned it in favour of hotel quarantine.

This is a couple of days old:

But would indicate that for NSW and ACT who will be at 80% double dosed before end of October, it should be from 1 November.

For Vic and TAS sometime mid November (or end of Nov if they add 2 weeks to the date the target is reached)

For the states showing no urgency to complete their roll-out well wont be November at all.

SA, and Qld may be able to leave just before xmas (assuming the date is 2 weeks post 80%) . WA and NT looking like post xmas on same criteria.

And for once it looks like there will be an advantage for those of us who live alone, in no drama to stay away from others for those 7 days of home quarrantine.

doubt it as there will be lots of couples that travel together / families etc, seems like it would be an added dimension that would be infrequently used

According to ABC News, SA is signing up as per the agreement which for us will be early Dec. That's amazing considering where we were just a couple of months ago. But it will send the CHO into a tizzy. For those living with others then they will all have to isolate which may also be fine with many.

Some more details here:

COVID-19 Testing is expected to continue to be a part of travel, but the government is looking at using rapid antigen testing as part of the arrangement.

He (Scomo) said the government would not implement a 'red-light, green-light' system of approved and banned countries similar to the United Kingdom.

"You can go where you want to go, subject to the normal [security] restrictions."

This might be off topic but is anyone worried that the NSW Premier might not be so much in favour of international travel (like Gladys) and act like WA/QLD in keeping borders closed?

Remember that Scomo has no control over State's international borders and each State can choose to not open borders even after they reach 80% DD

Perrottet wanted to let it rip a few months ago. We’re fine lol. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re flying to the moon in a week.

No chance. Dom is much more likely to push harder to open quicker if he is the preferred candidate.

Not too sure about Rob Stokes but remember that the NSW Government is pro business.

Sure, being vaccinated yourself is most of the way there. But allowing people into the country who are not effectively vaccinated could have implications for our health system and tourism industries.
