Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

One year I earned Platinum 1 in 16 weeks... obviously that required a lot of international flying. I imagine many P1's are in that boat

So, given that there is no international flying, they'll give everyone a chance to re-qualify once borders open... whenever that is.

(my guess: # of P1's will drop. 20%? 30%? 50%?)

I've read the Qantas encyclopaedia of status extensions correctly and have a particular interest in pages 381 to 404 on status credit rollover. If I understand correctly, members with an expiry from January to June only get to rollover SCs on bookings created from 11 August 2021. That's not reflected in the example table, though (the example of a member with a 31 March 2022 expiry who amasses 1045 SCs) which shows that all 60 of that person's SCs earned from flying roll over.

The qualifying booking needs to be made between 11 August and the membership year-end (in the case 31 March 2022)

If you do that, the rollover of credits will be based on credits earned over the entire membership year (1 Apr 2021 - 31 March 2022)

But status credits earned from flights between 1 April and 11 August won't roll over, though, correct?

Yes they will (subject to making that booking). There is table on page 391.

Ohhhh, okay. So you just have to book your one flight on or after 11 August in order to trigger the roll over benefit to apply, for the entire membership year?

In the past two years I've accumulated a number of gift vouchers (that I purchased in the Before Covid times and was going to use to get those sweet sweet DSCs but of course ended up mostly unused) and travel passes from cancelled flights.

But in order to get this status extension I won't be able to use any of these vouchers and passes, but make an entirely new booking, is that correct?

Will resign myself to doing that if that's what it takes, but it is annoying that I likely won't be able to use any of the money I've already paid Qantas to get this extension. (Although not as annoying as having three separate trips - including some status runs in J - cancelled on me this month thanks to the mess here in NSW.)

Domestically two one way trips are priced the same as return, so you could use a new booking for a one way flight and a voucher for the other direction.

I believe you CAN use a travel pass, no matter when it was issued, to make a new booking to be eligible.

Why? Because it is just a form of payment. You are still making a new booking (PNR).

Flight credits I agree one would have to actually get QF to sort that out manually I should think, but I see no reason why a TP could not be used for a new booking and have it qualify.

That makes an uncanny sort of sense. They don't have PNRs attached to them, do they? Totally forgot about that. Thanks! 🥳

Does anyone know when statuses are extended? Mine is set to end 31/8 and I've taken an intra-NZ JQ flight within the period but I haven't seen/heard anything on my status.

Is this the experience of multiple AFF members? I don't want to get caught out with QF not considering my intra-NZ JQ flight to be an eligible flight.....

I should have mentioned that's what I read as well but it's getting awfully late and I just wanted to make sure my Intra-NZ JQ flight qualified (earned QF points). Otherwise I might just book something else just to be safe.

I always find this things so confusing.

I am Oct-21 year end and took advantage of the offer to book and fly once this year to have my membership rolled over.

So what, if any, benefit is there under the new scheme. It seems unclear to me but am I still eligible for the SC roll over into my '22 membership year given I booked a flight prior to Nov '20 and flew it?
