Not sure how many AFF members are still chasing SC at the moment, but this is 50 SC for $80 or less - lowest level extras-only.

I can't vouch for reliability but I believe the promo might award the full 140k points by moving to top level hospital & extras around day 57, then dropping it back after day 60 under the cooling off period.

Interesting. Also count towards lifetime this time. Too bad I am with NIB and excluded.

I got an offer for 50SC for qantas health ins this AM. + upto 140k points for a couple.
Need to retain for 60 days minimum.
I played around with it and went for the lowest option - extras only. 10 bucks a week. So 50SC + 6000 points for 80 bucks. Nice.
As I went to pay, it offered me to use points! 7000 points buys 8 weeks. So its only costing 1000 points for 50SC. Neat.

I'll keep an eye on this but not sign up because I'd want the SC next membership year. Hopefully it's extended / re-run.

Actually now it's borderline cost neutral as I noticed the wellbeing app gives me 110 points a week for my regular exercise Vs 11 when no insurance. Hahaha

From the T&C it would seem the SC WILL count toward lifetime status and can be rolled over.

Does anyone know if you can take out extras cover if you have an existing health insurance policy with another provider? Not sure if you're allowed to have 2 policies at the same time.

I just did, so yes.

I have hosp with my main provider and extras with qantas now - for the next 8 weeks anyway ha.

I think what you can't do is make a claim for the one service on both policies.

Is it possible that neither policy will pay up when you make a claim? They might both say to go and claim from the other one.

they are for different things
hosp
extras
so i cant claim twice and they cant claim i can claim from the other one.
also, im cancelling it on day 62.

Alas, my HI provider was acquired by NIB a couple of years ago. So I’m assuming I’m not eligible. Otherwise, these SCs would land in my new status year….☹️

I’m wondering if there’s risk holding two policies. A main policy with hospital and extras and second policy, perhaps extras only that you might only retain for a short period?

Well I've signed up.

$7.62/week (with rebate) for the basic extras cover is pretty good, considering I'll get 6,000 points + 50 status credits after 2 months.

I also use the Qantas Wellbeing App, so the extra ~150 points per week that I'll get for the next couple of months as a Qantas Insurance customer won't hurt either.

Done so too. The app is unusable (on Android) though. Keeps popping up asking if I want some competition. No matter what you select it just pops up again and again.
