Im tossing up between this or the 2018 Sons of Eden Marschall Shiraz....i have a $100 voucher, never had the sons of eden though it seems to be a great vintage for the Marschall from reviews around the place, any feedback? Problem is I know the Yangarra are great aswell, i have the 2016

Buy Sons of Eden. Great wine. Under $25 a bottle is my price point.

....Surely DM wouldn't run out of wine.

This is where the "panic buying" manages to entice even the sane into lunacy.

Wine is made in seasons - ie each year a certain amount is made, and slowly gets sold off during the next year or many. Unlike many consumer products like toilet paper that are made everyday. So unless there is a drastic increase of consumption (not purchasing) there is no worry about demand exceeding supply.

That's a big night even with those limits? I can only think the limits were introduced because some were buying more than this?

Just some rough back of the envelope calculations - if you bought “the limit” from Dans and then were put into 14 day isolation with no further deliveries it would “just” last for a couple of two - particularly one like our house where we will be dealing with 3 cooped up kids.

1. Start the day with a couple of beers, we can a little over 2.5 each so maybe we alternate, one day I have 3 she has two and vice versa.

2. Towards mid morning move onto the ciders, again a little over 2.5 each.

3. When we get to lunch, we each have 600ml of cask wine with lunch.

4. Post lunch and to get over the desire to nap, we move into the premixed drinks, again 2.5 each.

5. coughtail hour starts mid afternoon, 3 gin and tonics each.

6. Dinner time - share a bottle and a bit of wine between us.

7. Post dinner nightcap of a scotch each.

Sleep soundly and then rinse and repeat next day.

It won’t be easy but if it’s for the good of the country we are prepared to do it.

p.s. the above is a joke, I would not do or recommend this approach!

Im not sure it is a joke. I have a teacher friend who is in lock down with his wife and three kids. He tells me they are getting through 3 bottles a day. I was shocked.
