Hi everyone i am in the same bat as everyone had 3 seperate bookings with qantas 2 booking reference nos. where i booked tickets using classic reward points cancelled the 1st booking outbound which i cancelled through Manage booking last week -where it did say the 6000 point cancellation fee would be waived.
When I go back to my account, it still shows the booking details, however when I click on the "Manage my booking", it gives and error "We are unable to find this confirmation number. Please validate your entry and try again or contact us for further information. (8104) ". so i am still waiting for tax refund and points back .
2nd booking (booked using classic reward points) went to Manage bookings but only option i can get is cancel/Voucher no mention of 6000 point cancellation fee would be waived. So i am not sure if i should still cancel the ticket to get the refund and hope to get the 6000 point cancellation fee would be waived . It must be chaotic put there for everyone at Qantas so just giving them time to settle in and get their heads around this.
Our 3rd booking was done using AMEX Travel Credit ...does anyone have any contact deatils for Amex where we can email them for cancellation

Not sure if it’s the correct address but I emailed Amex on Friday at [email protected]

Have a similar issue to others. Booked with a travel credit and that Amex has been cancelled. No use in getting a qantas voucher (if possible) as it’s my 3rd trip cancelled and it’s not possible for me to use before the voucher expiry would end. An interesting time for us all.

Best thing with Amex is just call their travel department. You'll be given a cheque for the travel credit that was used.

I just noticed this Twitter. Seems a bit more generous than previously reported.

I haven’t booked anything with the Amex QF $450 flight credit and am not going to be able to now. Is Amex making any provision for keeping the credit to use later? I want to cancel the credit card.

FYI... after getting through to call centre last Thursday 19/3 (10 min wait in the morning) after initially cancelling a booking (for flight to HK in April) through MMB on the Monday 16/3, requesting a refund but instead received a voucher.
Lovely lady just changed the cancellation to a refund with no cancellation fee. Since I was on a roll, I asked (very nicely) if I could cancel 2 more bookings (in May and July) for a refund and she happily obliged with no cancellation fee!
Yesterday I received 2 of the booking refunds back to credit card. Just waiting for the July cancellation to go through. We are very happy Qantas customers right now.

Same boat here, but is there anything preventing you and I from necessarily making a (domestic) booking with the credit, and then following through for the cancellation later? When you say you're not able to now, I assume you mean follow through with the actual flight, but even with the restrictions, looks like bookings can still be 'made' (domestically at least), or am I seeing things wrong on the site?

I just went to cancel a flight on 3 Apr NZ to Aus on MMB and the conditions indicated cancellation fees etc would apply. I think I will wait until 72 hours out.

As reported above, the 'agency' page now seems to have made it to the 'pubic' pages on the website.

Qantas is finally making it a little clearer - and I mean only a little bit - that there is difference between the passenger wishing to cancel, and situations where QF is cancelling.

Wonder if someone had a word to their legal department?

Received an email from QF this afternoon "Prepare for your flight QF448 to Sydney on 29Mar20" - no mention of the fact that the next sector SYD-DPS has disappeared into the ether...

Thanks Jboy90 will send them an email today see what they say .....its really interesting times for everyone

Yes, could make a domestic bkg in theory, prob best for much later this year, or into next. I'd like to realise the value though without a booking just as it's less one thing to think about.

Thais because you bought your original ticket in Feb 2020....so you either get 12 on from the original ticket issue date OR September 30 whichever is longer. In MY case (like many others) I bought my ticket in August 2019 so according to QANTAS new policy I get to September 30th at the latest to book.
It is my understanding that flights can be booked up to 12 months in advance. You might have a September deadline to redeem the voucher but you should be able to book flights after september.

I have a few QF bookings in the system.
The first is for this Friday from BNE-NTL and since Qld has announced it is likely to close its borders soon (or, at least impose 14-day quarantine), we're going to postpone the trip. QF has already "cancelled" the first leg but rebooked me on a departure several hours earlier. I was able to request a Refund Voucher via Manage Your Booking very easily and the emailed Confirmation came through within 10 minutes. I assume that since I actually cancelled I will be subject to change fees?

Flight 2 is more complicated. I made a booking on 11 March BNE-HND-BNE (obviously via SYD) departing BNE on 31 March, dep HND 2 April (arr BNE on 3rd) to take my stranded grandson back to his home to Tokyo. The catch is in the fine print:
"If you make a new booking between 10-31 March 2020, for travel until 31 May 2020, you will have the option to change or cancel your booking for a voucher at a later date."
Can anyone intepret that for me? MYB has just now been updated to show QF 25 (BNE-HND on 31 March) as cancelled; it is perversely showing the return flight on 2 April (HND-SYD on QF 26 as unaffected.
It would also appear from a search on the website that QF is now offering to service that route per BA and JL via Singapore. I hope they don't consider this to be merely a change to my booking ...

Flight 3 is BNE-NRT-BNE (30 Apr–11 May). That booking was made in February. Presumably a Voucher for this itinerary will not be subject to 'change fees'?

I know QF is snowed under with thousands of calls, etc and a rapidly changing external environment so I'm not complaining. I was just hoping that someone has encountered similar conditions and has an answer without me clogging up the phones.

Stay safe

I think the distinction here is down to careful wording on QF's part... 'you will have the option to change or cancel' (and get a voucher) vs Qantas cancelling (and you getting $$ cash refund). One is optional, one is not.

Airlines offering the option to voluntarily change or cancel the booking was part of the consumer confidence campaign, that if you made a booking and changed your mind you could change or cancel your booking (but not necessarily get your money back).

But that was assuming the flights were still going, or that an acceptable alternative would be available.

Anyone has experience with booking that was paid for with a gift voucher + cash?
(It was a gift voucher with 3 years expiry, not a travel voucher)
I don't know if I can get a cash refund, but at the same time, I don't want a travel voucher that comes with much restriction, including the shortened expiry date, booking class and amount

Cheers

yep..that's what I said..I get 360 days from the September 2020 cut off to book new flights...BUT at the now to September 2020 price (read $3,000+ Higher)

This is all about whether or not there are sale fares at the same fare level as what you paid. Do you know the fare class code? I don't agree that you'll have to pay more, it just depends on the pricing and availability of your previous fare class.
I just did a quick search, Sydney to LA, and business is as low as $3000 one way.
But here is the great thing First class for $6500 one way. There is no reason you can't use your voucher for first class seats at an extra cost of $500.
