Thanks a million to those who attended last night - I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

For those who did not attend we conducted an 'Open Mike' session for ALL attendees to vent their inner most thoughts on any matters AFF related - WOW - what an interesting, informative, enlightening and entertaining session that was. I would LOVE to share some of the GEMS expressed by attendees but alas the tried and true commandment of AFF functions is that 'what happens at the Olive Tree stays at the Olive Tree'.

I have been granted permission to share one notable item expressed by one attendee - 3 letters can get you into lots of trouble - AFF - go Google those 3 letters - and always remember to never inform a large group of intelligent and impressionable young minds that you have been entrusted to educate that you spend most of your spare time on AFF - OMG - did that story ever break the crowd up!!! 🤣

Suffice to say the 'Open Mike' session will become a permanent fixture at all future MEL functions - gotta love warts and all honesty huh - thank the lord for truth serum - a.k.a. red wine! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

A great night indeed. Always good to hang out with fellow members of "AFF" (;);)) and share our love for all things aviation and fine food.
When I get home from school tonight I'll extract the GoPro pic and post that... the wide angle was certainly needed.

Ok I looked up AFF in google. I really didn’t know about the alternative groups.
What was the better red wine?
You picked a work day for me so I couldn’t come over.

Mrs MN was away - the Ette said she wasn’t going if neither you nor Cathy were going - it was widely publicised as open to all - it was what it was.

Can someone put avatars to the photo as I am scratching to figure out who this group of awesome manhood are?

So another enjoyable evening at the Olive Tree has passed.
Thanks to CE for organising.
Thanks to all attendees.
Thanks to the crew at Olive Tree for providing us with good food and friendly service.
Good to meet some new faces, as well as the familiar ones.
Next dinner we will all be able to discuss how we used the DSC's that have just been announced.

What a great night.. My first AFF event, and that too in Melbourne! Excellent wine, excellent conversation, excellent food...

Was great meeting so many people I "knew" from the forums.

Thanks for organising CE! Perfect timing 👍

As promised, here's the wide-angled GoPro photo. Got a bit too excited, so much so that I didn't hold it stable enough to take a nicer, non-blurry picture.
Anyway, it certainly does capture, most importantly, the people in attendance, the lovely venue being the OT, and the lone bottle of moscato that felt a bit left out with all the strong reds on the table.
A brilliant night as usual.

Thank you Cruiser Elite for organising! Had my usual 'Lady's Eye Fillet' and it was up to the usual standard - brilliant. Enjoyed meeting faces old and new, and look forward to the next one.

Great night as always.
It was nice to see everyone except that ring-in who stole my wine... you know who you are... :p

As we were the last to leave OT (as usual) me and @boomy noticed an unopened bottle of red still sitting on the table so rather than leave it I thought I'd grab it and return it at next function. However me and boomy got a bit thirsty (as you do) on the tram ride back to Flinders St station so took a few swigs out of the bottle (it's OK, it was in a brown paper bag). I carefully replaced the cap hoping you wouldn't notice a third of the bottle missing when I returned it. However, on the train ride home, I resorted to take further swigs out of the bottle to give me something to do and keep myself awake on the journey. Unfortunately there is only 124.6 mL left (measured with a calibrated measure at 20C). But not to worry. I will top it up with my best quality cooking wine before I return it in the hope that you will not notice any difference. 🤡

Think my second bottle never got opened? I didn't check as I wouldn't be taking it back anyway..

Just arrived at Syd.. Hectic work week

Happy to say that it was opened and polished off. We took the opportunity whilst you were at the other end of the table. :p

I agree with Goodonya totally. He and I, and maybe others, polished off daft009's second bottle. 🍷
I can also vouch for boomy and Goodonya saving penegal's bottle of wine. We all thought penegal had left and by table rules no unopened bottles may be left at the restaurant. 🍷
