Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

hi there
can someone please check QF35 Friday 15th November for exit row seats x 2? Currently got us seated down the back on an aisle and window with fingers crossed for no middle passenger.

Any chance that the Upper deck will have anything for a lowly Silver after T-80 or am I dreaming?
Here you are - hopefully you can do better than row 84 ;)
The flight is still X9 in Y (i.e. at least 9 award seats still 'for sale'), so plenty left to shift for QF.

Cheers,
Matt.

Thanks Matt!!

Haha I knew my description wouldn't make it hard to spot. What does the blue seat with a white X mean? I'm assuming white seat means available.

Do the experts suggest jumping on the upper cabin if it even gets shown as available to me closer to departure or exit row?

The seats with an 'x' are blocked for selection by the airline, at the moment, and what is blocked varies with status... e.g. for a Silver, you would see more blocked than I would as a Platinum. The white seats are open for me as a Platinum to select, currently.

For Silver, it would look like this (I've used my wife's FF number to generate):

For a couple, I wouldn't be choosing any of those remaining seats in the upper deck mini-cabin... I'd play the same strategy as you have, though more forward in the cabin. No guarantees, but the middle seat on a flight with a light load like this is a fair chance to remain empty.

Cheers,
Matt.

I recently moved myself & MrsOatek from 34 D/E to 54D/E on a flight to HKG next year to make sure we don't have the upset of finding a late substitution with the new config moving us to some random spot. Probably not much of an issue if on you own for a short flight like that.

hi there, what do the little yellow stars on the white seats represent? I've moved my seats about 3 times already 😊
They denote that there are mixed reviews about those seats or that there are some negative features. eg, reduced seat-width, or seat doesn't recline, or close to galley noise / toilet traffic etc. Not always accurate though.

Not sure if I'm in exactly the right spot for my query but here goes. Our families are planning to shout my brother & me a surprise (for him) trip to the UK for a family reunion with our English rellies, he's not seen them for 30 years.. My brother is 66, 6 '4 " and with a very dicky back. The most we'll be able to afford is premium economy, and I'd appreciate any advice from AFF'ers about which airline/aircraft/best seat will give him the most comfortable trip. We'll be under time constraints but maybe an overnight stop on the way back to break the journey for him. I'm lifetime QF lowly Bronze & zero points so the only benefit I'll get is lounge access I assume. Any guidance would be appreciated please.

For comfort I would recommend PE on QF A380 instead of 789. QF can be expensive in PE sometimes and it's worth having a look at BA fares. Flying from Australia to HKG on CX in PE and then to LHR on BA A380. Food is bad on BA as expected but seat is good.

The cheapest PE fares i’ve seen are around $2700. That was Cathay. JAL was a little bit more. You can get business class on other airlines for the same price as Qantas PE.

Another option might be for the two of you to share three seats (one comfort seat). All up that could bring it to around $3000 return to london for the three seats.

thanks for that. Am researching now

There are specials out now with china airlines premium economy for $1800 and business for $3700 return. Long layovers in taipei each way, but they give you a hotel. That’s out of Sydney to Paris (if it’s still available... check out the cheap fares thread here on AFF). Cheap to get from paris to UK.

Does anyone have knowledge of the CX A330 J cabin.

I have found one review that says 20K has a larger foot well / more legroom due to the bulkhead - but there's no pic and no other reviews to corroborate.

Can anyone confirm?

I have a 13 hour sector and really dislike the "feet in a box" reverse herringbone seats.

If they are any larger I haven't noticed! But CX's reverse herringbone don't at all feel like 'feet in a box' to me - and I'm 6'3.

My wife and I are both WP and was wondering if QF would or could waive the pre selecting seating charge as our daughter and family (5) are doing RTW economy with 3 little ones and it would be nice to not have to pay !!!

If you're all on the same booking then it shouldn't be an issue.

we are not travelling with them so was just wondering if as WP QF might extend a benefit by not charging !!!
