A discussion point the other night at dinner. The Qantas Club started operation in May 1987. At what point did it commence as a Frequent Flyer organisation (I think it was straight away) and when was the concept of status credits introduced?

@Peter B Simpson SC were introduced (nee "Tier Credits") in September 1998.

Not sure about the other query as I joined the QP in 1994 and was automatically enrolled in QFF at that time.

Many thanks. I joined in May 1987 and my problem, which was the reason for our discussion at dinner, was that I'd accumulated millions of miles of travel BEFORE the introduction of Tier Credits. While I now have 45000 tier credits I have reverted to Lifetime Gold after 20 years as Platinum. LG gives me no benefits now that I've retired, unless I fly Economy. We usually fly J Class internationally and I therefore get Lounge access anyway. With Platinum I got F Class access. It just forces me to travel with other carriers.

Tell me about it ... I had 245 flights with Qantas before TC's were introduced. Before then 80 flights in any earningclass in your "Year" would get you Gold / Emerald.

Who remembers the old Flight Deck lounges?

That’s where we started. I’m pretty sure @GPH still has his original card.

I remember getting 10 guest passes each year
