Hi everyone,
Back in February my QF WP status dropped to my LT SG status. Due to changes in work duties I rarely travel for work so the life time Gold status will now come into play for my personal international trips
Anyway last week I did my first QF trip since the drop and checked in for MEL-BNE flight using the Qantas App. The boarding pass for this, and the return flight when checking in for the next day, came out as Platinum status despite my online account being listed as Gold for some time.
Now this meant I could access the business lounge at both Melbourne and Brisbane which I did end up using.
Questions
1) Has this happened to anyone before?
Not counting the 1 week delay in status downgrades I mean but such a long time later.
2) Any ethical concerns with using domestic business lounge?
I did consider not using it but since as a WP over many years I only used J domestic lounges around 15% of the time (I try to minimise domestic airport time) rationalised it as okay - I guess when it’s to your benefit it’s easy to rationalise!
3) Would this open up an international F lounge visit?
I have a J SYD-DFW flight in August. I guess if I don’t check in using my LTG card the system might still list Platinum status and checkin agent might not see the status mismatch.
4) Assuming if boarding pass has WP would you use the F lounge in Sydney?
I’m actually more concerned with ethics for International F Lounge use in this situation but the SYD J Lounge is always been underwhelming and overcrowded when I’ve visited.
Anyway a weird situation, it appears like some systems are unlinked and the status downgrade from main account database to checkin system, at least for App, hasn’t worked.
