Made any travel mistakes lately?

You and I fly quite a lot. Status comes in handy. Someone that flies once a month or once every couple of months may not care.

Trust me, I don't worry about all the gift card carry on. I even pay the CC fee as I couldn't be bothered with gift cards, but the lady I mentioned is not an occasional flyer. She flys regularly, enough for at least WP but doesn't bother about it.

I have been lending some tax bills to family members as they love Kris Miles. I always get every tax bill onto a credit card. I seem to have become addicted to points and miles.

YES - made the mistake of travelling to Reno Nevada 2 weeks back - what a shiit hole!!!

The current mistake for me was to take 2 fairly new pairs of shoes to Spain thinking you have broken them in. Unfortunately, they were not broken in as well as I thought and instead broke my feet. I am now the proud possessor of a pair of bright blue and yellow "joggers" with fluorescent blue & yellow laces - it is hard to find shoes late at night in Barcelona for big feet (in my price range anyway). They are very comfortable - with an added foam liner - and blend in with what the rest of the population are wearing.

I'm guessing you weren't there for the Reno Air Races then? Only been there once for the aforementioned reason.

Don't hold much chances but thought I'd learn from others experiences...

I made the mistake of signing up for, and allocating points, for China Eastern's Frequent Flyer programme, when I flew from Sydney to New York via Shanghai.

I didn't realize I could allocate points to my Qantas Frequent Flyer instead.

I flew on September 6th.

Has anyone has luck with China Eastern removing points from their programme & allocating it to QFF instead???

When I email them in English, all I get are replies in Mandarin!

When I logged it via the Qantas website, a day later it said "Unsuccessful claim".

Is there an email address I can use for both/either of the parties that will understand & action: "Please remove my points from China Eastern Miles programme; and now allocate it to QFF#: xx_xx_x."?

Anyone have any success?

Very difficult to get any airline to reverse flights accrued to a FF program.

What class if travel?

How many points did you earn?

You can always look at the site www.wheretocredit.com as it tells you what other frequent flyer programs you can credit to.

I would then go to the partner earning table on the website of the airline you're crediting to just to double check.

Crediting to QF is not necessarily the best option as you would want to credit to an airline that has low co-payment charges on award tickets.

Email well received.
By checking your Eastern Miles member account, we found that the points for MU297/08SEP had already been accumulated to your account. We are not able to delete the points once it's been accumulated, even if you willingly give up the points in your account, you would still not be able to accumulate the points to your Qantas FF account, since points could not be double accumulated.

Too late.

As you can see above, they have already credited me to their EasternMiles programme and refuse to remove it.

Hawaiian Airlines, however, did help much more when I made the mistake of using their Hawain Miles programme (instead of Virgin Velocity) and actually removed my Hawaiian Miles and allowed me to credit my Virgin Velocity.

So Kudos to Hawaiian!

Perhaps a bit harsh calling them useless, from what a few have said it was always pretty unlikely you would have been successful with your request. It would seem that most airlines operate similarly. It wasn't an error by them in the first instance.

It depends on the fare class and route. Still, it may be better to have 2000 points joining others in your velocity account than have 4000 miles orphaned in a HA account.

Live and learn, except I'm getting old!

Spent hours trying to sort out a Qantas voucher online, flights from Canberra to Bangkok to hook up with the recent Finnair deal to Europe. Couldn't get it to work, finally called Qantas and the nice person at the other end said no problem, 'what are you trying to do?' Sorted in under 5 minutes......

Then I booked flights from Bangkok to Berlin on Finnair, of course I was stressed by this stage as nothing seemed to be working and I booked the departure from Bangkok as the same day as Canberra to Bangkok.

Had to call Helsinki, they could only cancel the flights, not change them, but because it was was within 24 hours it was ok.Then I had to do it all again for the next day. Did that and rebooked only to get an email from my CC provider saying that I was very close to my limit!

Called them, explained the problem, all fixed, I'm sure I've lost more hair.

As an aside, Asturias and the historic rally will have to wait until 2020,

One that keeps bugging me:

Saw two J seats available (one the same flight, yes!) for QFF redeption on MH MEL-KUL for September 2019 for a holiday, exactly the day I needed them. Needed to confirm with +1 flight times et al, and by the time this was all done 24 hours later, availability was back to 1 seat only... I should have just booked them then and there, I am still furious with myself for letting this one slip.

So now we're flying on separate flights 14 hours apart, I will go overnight and spend the day in KL probably working, and then meeting up at KUL in the evening for our onwards journey to PEN. While arguably good value (65k QFF points + $90 taxes), I am still not happy with the outcome somehow. Maybe once I had the first drink at the bar after arriving in Penang
