Hi on the terms it says : This offer applies only once per eligible customer.

I recently rang HSBC about applying for their offer and to check if I qualified re exclusion period and they said if same thing. Bonus points only applies once per customer.

Any ideas?

From ANZ Terms: 16. Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply for an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card account. This is a limited time only offer which may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous twelve months. This offer applies only once per eligible customer.

Sorry, but I really have no idea what you are referring to. This thread is about an ANZ offer not HSBC. Aside from that, I don't understand what you have written.

my read of it is it's referring the that specific bonus points offer, would only be an issue if the offer extended greater than a year and you tried to apply again. usually the offers have specific expiry dates so that should be taken into consideration, once the offer expires any subsequent offer would be different even if the terms are the same.

That for bonus points?
Yeah it was the bonus points.
I only got them with my third statement even though I had met the min spend in the 2nd month so they must still make you wait until after 3 months to get the bonus points.

Can't seem to make any sense of your post.

You say you spoke to HSBC but you quote (without proper acknowledgement) what seems to be terms from an ANZ offer.

Makes no sense.

I am out of the exclusion period for Qantas bonus offers for both HSBC and ANZ.

As it happens, I called HSBC last week to double check my exclusion period in order to apply and get bonus points. They said I was, but after conferring with supervisor came back and said the bonus offer is only available once per customer even though it had been 18 months since account closed. Therefore even though I was out of the exclusion period -ineligible.

So when I read that ANZ had in their terms: "This offer applies only once per eligible customer." I was hoping someone could advise me if that is the same thing as what it appears HSBC have implemented.

I have had many of the same cards several times and always got bonus offer but after speaking with HSBC thought other cards must be cracking down on people churning cards and getting sign up bonuses. Hope that is clear and someone could advise me.

The term has never been interpreted as once per person over their entire lifetime.

I have had multiple applications with both HSBC and ANZ, and after the exclusion period was up when I applied again bonus points were awarded.

I believe that you have been misadvised by HSBC.

It's possible that the interpretation has changed. But I highly doubt that.

can you have this and the anz black (non QFF) at the same time to get the bonus points? or should i cancel the other card first

I’ve only held one ANZ card at a time. I don’t think your problem is the bonus points, but it might be instead being accepted for a second ANZ card while you already hold one?

I applied for the black rewards, then black QF almost immediately after. They were reluctant to give me a second card initially and wanted me to close my first card. I told them I will close the first card after I receive my bonus points, so they kept my application open for 60 days. A week later, another call from the call centre to ask about my second application and asked me why I wanted the second card - I was honest and said I wanted the bonus. 15 minutes later they approved the second card. I have since received the boni for both cards.

Card applied 31st may
Received card 18th June
Spend met by 2nd statement, received points 17th august upon 3rd statement being issued.

...though the points received were over for me and under for my girlfriend. will investigate

Is the exclusion period from cancellation 12 months or 18 months until I can apply again?

It depends on the T&Cs at the time you're ready to apply again. At the moment I believe it's 12 months but ANZ could choose to change this at any time. Always check the T&Cs when ready to apply again just in case things such as the exclusion period have changed.

I'm churning this one again. I favoured the direct application with a $0 annual fee than the cash back and additional QFF points by applying via QF web site.
