short connection - what happens if I miss my second flight?

Hi,

I made a booking through aeroplan for SIN->LHR (SQ), then LHR->JFK (Swiss) but the layover was a short 1hr. The agent said it was ok as the system accepted it. Since then, SQ have changed the arrival time and now it is only 40 mins between flights. If the first flight is delayed and I miss the second, who is on the hook to get me a new booking for LHR->JFK? This is all on one booking.

I've tried calling aeroplan to clarify but I just got hung up on after waiting 2 hrs... Any help appreciated!

If it’s all on one ticket, then the airline takes the responsibility to get you to JFK.
Both airlines use T2 at LHR but minimum connection time is 60-75 minutes, so I’d definitely be querying the timing

If you choose to fly this and miss the connection, Singapore Airlines (the carrier that delivered you late) is responsible for rebooking you onto the next available flight to JFK. They will likely put you on the next LX or United/Air Canada flight.

Is that Swiss via ZRH or GVA? As Swiss don't fly direct to JFK. In any instance, as long as it is on one ticket you should be protected, noting if they rebook you on UA it won't be to JFK, it would be to EWR, but they might need your OK to do that, and if known to be running late before departure, they might even rebook you via ZRH initially.
