Why is the QF EK alliance such a joke?

That place you come to quite frequently so that you can enjoy the best wine production areas in Australia.

Mmm pushing your luck there TV. I did wonder if I should report the post to the mods or not :)

It just seems strange that you have a heavily publicised published partnership where there are less benefits than flying “less prestigious” partners. I’m just whinging because after switching back to QF last year and nearly reaching platinum this year after a status run I’m going to be forced to fly EK and not allowed to codeshare because travel policy.... Which would bother me less if domestic flights could earn me tier miles. So I’ll be EK WP and miss QF SG resting on LTS, with little prospect of LTG for a decade...

OneWorld is primarily an alliance focussed around the Frequent Flyer. The Qantas/Emirates alliance is more operationally and commercially focussed.

So the alliances have different purposes.

Personally, I won't call Alaska a Tin Pot airline especially now that they have absorb Virgin America! And Iberia is a full fledge OW Alliance airline

Agreed. Especially with the recent VX acquisition. I would only hope they at least look at integrating VX's IFE into AS's existing Boeing fleet should AS decide to get rid of the VX Airbuses faster than currently planned.

I flew them about six years ago from LAX to YVR lounge was awful and plane ancient, but things must have changed.

You can only earn SCs if you are on a flight operated and marketed by Qantas, an airline owned by Qantas or a member of oneworld. EK is not owned by QF, nor is it a member of oneworld.
Every other QFF partner airline that isn't a oneworld member also doesn't earn SCs.

Air Tahiti Nui earns full SC’s if booked on a QF code

Off topic: Hear, hear.:D

On topic: QF believes that touting EK as an "alliance" to those of us who have no international flights out of our capital city on QF, will make us all feel loved and wanted by QF.;)

Agreed. The alliance/partnership wasn't put in place to benefit customers.
