I have been following the other thread about the card and whilst im interested im not sure how much worth it is to me...

  • Sure the membership is cheap but where else can i stay -
  • any other hilton family owned property where i can earn points to stay at the proper hilton?
  • And how many points is it to stay at the hitlon? or is that not how it works?

And how many of you stay at hiltons be it for work or play? I guess it depends on your theory but do you aonsider it good value and why do you stay there and nowhere else?

Two separate programs relating to Hilton Hotels. Main points ...

- Oz/NZ/SWP based "Hilton Premium Club"

Valid for Oz/NZ hiltons. (Not Conrad)
Has a fee
Include one "$99" stay per year.
Gives 20% discount on any rate bookable via Hilton family websites (not expedia, Qantas etc)
Gives 20% discount (basically) on Hotel F&B charges to room

- HHonors loyalty program

Award scheme where hotel points acan be earned for stay and free stays can be redeemed using tham
Regular stayer can earn "Statsu" which gives addion benifets when staying at Hilton Hotels

In reality, unless you travel out of Oz / Nz much one may be better off elsewhere. While I continue to travel OS and my HHonors gold status continues to provide free breaksfast it's worth it to me.

(Tough living in Tassie as no Hilton local).

So not much use to me - don't get me worng, i'm not a scab by any means and love staying at good hotels but my oh my they charge a premium for it!

Well its more of a lifestyle choice than anything else but you're right. Although having said that there is now a few Mercure sites around so that is better than nothing...

Generally the case, but not always. On my last return trip to Perth the Hilton (and Sheraton for that matter) were cheaper than the Holiday Inn! Now while the Hilton Perth is aged and dated, it is much better than the HI!

Do not actually have to charge to a room- you can get the discount even if you pay at the restaurant
Don't know if its changed, but when I had a membership the discount rates for "charged to room" and "paid at restaurant" were different. For anything charged to the room, it was a flat 20% discount. For food bills paid at the restaurant, the food portion was discounted based on the number of people at the table (no discount on beverages).

If charged to the room you also received HH points.

But as I said, it may be different now.

I believe it is all a flat 20%. Understand about the HH points, but the case is that I sometimes use F&B services at Hiltons without staying there

Iv'e been enrolled through both eras ...

The big change was for restaurant food bills not charged to the room - it was basically 1 free meal. (2 diners = 50% discount, 3 Diners = 33%, 4 Diners = 25% etc.) This was off the Food, not beverages.

It is now 20% off the Food and Beverage bill (Min $50 / Max 6(iirc) diners).
