Vinomofo Wine Deals

Arrived today and can confirm it's the Churchview St Johns GSM 2015. Now to taste and assess hoping this may be one of VMs bargain buys!

How did it taste?
I had a Hasslegrove GSM which was phenomenal for $7. Got WOT against a Penfolds 407 ...(we are all amateur drinkers)

T. Hanks guys. I distracted myself with the Over the Top vs. Rifle and Hunt error. I'd added it to my cart when I saw it and was waiting for free shipping. Now free shipping is here I went back to double check this thread and couldn't find the posts.

Has Over the Top been back up again recently? I finished my last bottle of that & would love to get some more if they're still floating around

Haven't seen it on VM for a while. Great drop. WD have it for $30 on their website but I think they will go as low as $20 if you call and speak to the right person. Just say you got it from VM for $18, think that is what they did it for. Should price match if prompted

You can buy it from Geoff Hardy Tractor shed unlabelled for $240 a dozen

Totally agree with the above. I'm going to stick my neck out and say it's the best red I've had from VM this year (mind you I ONLY drink reds!) Sorely tempted to go back in for another case while it's still available but $$ are also in short supply....

Thank you so much for your, and the rest of the teams recommendation! This is a fabulous merlot and definitely a worthy purchase! (Giant Steps Yarra Sexton Merlot, 2014). I always look for the wines you all 'rave' about from VM, even though they are rare these days... Keep up the good work

Well Wickad (he says fumbling for the "embarrassed" smilie ) thank you very much! Wine buying/tasting is such a personal thing that the old saying about one man's meat.... was never truer, however, it is always nice to be able to pass on a red hot tip especially as the genuine bargains from the 'FO are getting scarcer....cheers, W&D

I second that emotion!
My mum when she was alive was an amazing Catholic, very devout, God loving and God living, met the Pope, went to Lourdes, all that type of stuff.

Unfortunately her son's appreciation only stretches so far as a Churchview.

The Gsm is on its way, to be shared by three of us in the denominations of 5, 5 and 2. Shucks, I like to share.

Received our churchview GSM and tried a bottle last night. Very much G driven in the GSM blend. Medium bodied and 15% alcohol but somehow still elegant and balanced. Mrs Schroedinger liked it a lot. It's a keeper.

Well God bless you and hallelujah. I do find that their range is of a medium style, not so much in your face and nicely integrated with a good oak/fruit balance. I remember a WA critic bagging one of theirs a couple of years ago, possibly my first Churchview purchase from the Fo, yet my family liked it a lot. I inquired from Pierre at the winery and he explained that they were making this more refined style and possibly the reviewer was expecting a bit more oomph and hence marked it lower. Now I have heard there was a secret chord....

Haven't had a bad Churchview St Johns or otherwise and would have to agree that despite the hefty (at times 16.5%) alcohol level seem to be more in the mid than heavy weight end of town....

hello!

I'm just wondering whether anyone could offer an insight into what these two wines could be? Many thanks in advance!

Well I'm pretty certain that number two is this: ULITHORNE WINES | McLAREN VALE (ignore that it says 2015 in search term) and the first one I'll leave to AC....

One is an Ulithorne (VM use the same copy about cult producer that Jancis is into)
The other, only based on matching prices of previous vintages offered, could be the Steve Wiblin Blarney Stone.
