Vinomofo Wine Deals

Another vintage of the Capel Vale Cellar Exclusive I'm guessing. Not really that exclusive :)

Edit: has garnered relatively good reviews (Halliday and the various forums), so not a bad wine usually

Thanks AC, I posted that fairly late at night and did a bit of sleuthing afterwards that narrowed it down to Capel Vale but as it's a "cellar exclusive" didn't get any further...

Not my speed (or I suspect yours) but concur Capel Vale most likely.

Thanks Sed, I seem to recall getting it in a mixed dozen last year and was mildly disappointed if I remember correctly, I must say the 'FO's offerings haven't ignited much enthusiasm in me lately!

First VM purchase since mid-December, despite numerous temptations.

Surely the recent Heathcote Estate Shiraz at half price is a good deal!

I guess so, although not having tried this wine either I'm reliant on the esteemed member's opinions (which rest assured, I sure as hell trust more than VM's hyperbole) plus I like to stick to a slightly cheaper price point...

I had just assumed it was another Maverick when I saw the email, came here to see which one  ... Look forward to it being identified for interest sake but I am unlikely to purchase

The notes say nothing from this winery on the 'fo for the last 4 years, so not any of the usual suspects (Maverick, Haselgrove etc.) I guess.

Can't be Maverick, says:

' The ‘Fo hasn’t had anything from this 5th gen family producer in four whole years'

But as we all know VM lies frequently.

Not many details to go on at all with this one.

Maverick are 5 red star, but not 5th Generation as far as I can tell and no matching Cabernet that I could see.

I called my broker and was told it's a Grant Burge export label, so no local info around. The Shadrach from that vintage was good (typically), but is $80. I'm leaving it alone.

Grant Burge certainly matches the winery specs.

I can't see any expensive Cabernet from them on overseas sites except Shadrach.

Fifth generation fits, but isn't the highest priced wines Grant Burge make Meshach (shiraz) and Shadrach (Cabernet). Neither of these retail for $180. Not even on the Grant Burge website.

If it's a made for export item, I'd stay well clear. We've seen these types of items from VM before and they have been duds.
