Changes to QF Loyalty Bonus (now includes status credits)

I got very excited by this as it would allow me to reach gold in time for my return trip - and therefore an extra 15 kg baggage allowance. Unfortunately I then realised status credits with oneworld airlines don't count and my hopes and dreams were dashed
Still, may help when I get the extra hundred Qantas SCs for the first loyalty bonus, for platinum..

anyone started complaining about too many people getting status too easily yet? :)

Question:

I'm WP On Tuesday next week with my FF year ending 31st December. I'll hit the 1500 status bonus a week later. If I elect to wait until the New Year and select the SC option will those credits count towards retaining Platinum next year or will they be assumed to be earned during the previous FF year and not be included?

If my current arrangements maintain into next year I will more than likely gain P1 status. I hope that the gotcha on this offer doesn't mean the difference between getting there or not.

Good question - don't know.

My guess is that, similar to the way DSC offers have worked in the past that the SC's will be retroactively credited on the day they were earned and therefore would count in this years total.

I can't see how anyone would complain about it.. it's really a token gesture and really if you are slogging it in Y then an extra 50/100 scs to attain or retain is a good pick up

My guess would be that you are on the mark. Can't see it going to our advantage.

Given that the loyalty bonus is applied once you hit the mark, if you hadn't selected SC's you'd just get points..

I'm not sure how the gotcha will affect you.. yesterday you needed 3600scs, tomorrow you still will, just don't bank on the SCs

Not so, the terms state that you have 90 days after the bonus has been achieved to select the way the bonus is applied.

The new WP card seems the nicest looking of the lot so far with the Red Roo.

P1 card is even more bland - they took the red colour off the PLATINUM ONE wording.

Gold looks quite nice too

Worst looking cards IMHO. Unless I'm being gifted status I don't want a card with a bow on it that looks like something gift wrapped when the status is earned.

Guaranteed it will apply to the membership year in which it was earned, not the year it is redeemed. good try :)

I'm with you, but it hasn't been defined as yet as far as I have read.

I'd be uncomfortable to make that guarantee if I had the left one on it:shock:

You do realise the bow is only used in the graphic as a device to show you that QF is giving you a present by giving you the ability to choose extra SCs? There is no bow on the actual cards............

Here i was, thinking the bow made a nice point of differentation from other cards....

:)

With their usual impeccable timing, QF has made this commence just after my last Loyalty bonus was applied!

Ok well that's new.. either way it'll always apply in the membership year it was earned...

I figured they'll send an email after searching high and low for a setting when logged in, so something new, but not that dissimilar to how they let you choose the reward at 2400SC I suppose.
