Yeah. I can rack up points for CC's easily enough at the moment at least so taking the LT SCs makes sense even if not needed for current status requalification/levelling up. If loyalty bonus SCs are taken over a number of years it could significantly reduce the cost of maintaining status over that time and/or reduce the time taken to reach LTG by quite a bit.

Yeah - if earning 2k SCs per year and crediting each status bonus to SCs, that's 9 months saved from 7 years. If earning 500 SCs/yr, that's 2.5 years off 28 years.

I noticed this morning my choice of QFF points or SCs expires on 08 May 2017. Not sure when I earned the loyalty bonus. It could be 3 months.

I believe you have 90 days to make a choice from when you qualify. So you may not qualify late enough in your membership year to take the bonus in your next membership year if that's your preference.

I have a question that relates to the choice I made.

I received my first ever loyalty bonus recently but have just realized I mistakenly chose to add 50 to my status, instead of taking the points. Taking the points was the only logical option.

Do you have any experience of whether QANTAS would be nice enough to swap it for me? I know I can just call them but forewarned is forearmed...

No experience but I'm fairly certain the wording is very explicit that once choice is made that's it.
I think they'll say "Sorry but no backsies"

Just wondering, I have received the 'Congratulations! You've earned enough Status Credits to receive a Loyalty Bonus. Please make your choice:A bonus of 8,000 Qantas Points
A bonus of 50 Status Credits

You will need to choose by 03 Sep 2017'

However my membership year ends on the 30th June and I already have enough points for renewal of status. If I wait until after the 30th June to accept '50 SC' will the points be credited on the day of acceptance or backdated to the date of achieving the loyalty bonus?

I would wait at least till the afternoon of July 1 before taking the SCs in your situation. I'd want the time to have ticked over to July in GMT not just in local time. This might prove unnecessary but better to be safe.
