That's a different wine. That's this one:
https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=1996628 (which is scoring well on CT as well)

Check the image on the VM site - it has the words "Reserva Vendimia Seleccionada" on the label. It's this one-off one:
https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=2332524

Edit: scratch that. I'm not sure what this is anymore. Can't find anythng like it on the internet at all. I guess we better check Decanter mag

Very well spotted, and just like Hungerford Hill explains a hell of a lot. With the Fo paying them within 30days, and who knows the Cellarmasters deal, there would be a lot of cash coming the hill-billys way in time for Christmas.

We all applaud their wine making talents.

And BF I guess it explains the veritable torrent of Maverick wine flooding the market, I would never have picked it from the VM blurb but then I don't drink whites (virtually) so would have missed it anyway, agree with your parting comment too! Maybe I should hang onto the Ahren's Creek shiraz if they're not going to be making any more...

the only major difference between notes and pic is the Bricat vs Castelletto)

Delivered earlier this week - it's as per the picture and not the erroneous description:
3 x Castelletto: 2006, 2007 and 2011
1 x Bricat: 2011
2 x Langhe Nebbiolo 2013

Assuming they stack up to the CT etc. reviews, $60 for the Barolos and $30 for the Langhes, seems decent value to me.

Waiting for the premium/expensive stuffs, THE Maverick, Steiner Eden Valley, Greenock Rise

Thank You. i guess the Neb is 2013 ?

Yes, and the cabernet is different this year also. It is a straight cabernet, not a blend. Maybe the 2015 Barossa vintage was so good that no blending was required this year. Based on how good the shiraz was I have high hopes for the cabernet.

I cracked my first 2015 Twins Cabernet tonight. This was a challenging wine to write a tasting note for. There is so much going on that narrating that experience in a set of liner notes is not quite fair to the wine. Here is my best effort:

This is a straight cabernet, rather than the traditional Twins blend, but it is not left wanting. It is immediately more vibrant, intense and multi-faceted than the blend. Again the quality of the 2015 fruit is undeniable, this is as pure an expression of place as you could wish for. However, unlike the blend, this is less of a drink-now proposition.

There is the obligatory black currant fruit, with a hint of blackberry and light minty overtones rounding out the front-palate. But the real action is in the mid-palate, which is currently a little “large”, and unfortunately slightly unbalanced at this young age. The flavours are dark, occasionally bordering on the sour. I’m getting baking soda/spice, clay dust, pencil lead, dark chocolate and liquorice. Plus a whole lot more that I can’t quite identify. The tannins are ultra-fine but still a little drying. The finish is long and slightly smokey. Wow!

This is very probably the most complex $11 wine I’ve ever tasted. This is the blend with the volume dialled up to 11. It’s a very nice wine and in 5-10 years maybe great. A 94 on CT from me.

Would you take this cab sauv '15 over the cab blend '13 if you could only have one? How about this cab sauv '15 vs the shiraz '15?

Yes I would take the '15 cab over the '13 blend, purely based on its increased intensity and complexity. I rated the '13 blend a 90 on CT versus a 94 for the '15 cab.

It's a little closer when comparing the '15 shiraz to the '15 cab. The shiraz is currently the better balanced of the two wines, and is probably drinking better right now. However I would probably still opt for the '15 cab, simply because of its mid-palate complexity. Others may draw a different conclusion based on their personal tasting criteria, but it's this complexity that really drives my interest in a wine. My CT score for the shiraz was a 92.

I received 3 cases last week, Mitolo Cantiniere cab shiraz, Bittersweet Symphony and Allegiance Cab......The Mitolo was opened last night and was magnificent, thoroughly enjoyed every drop....the other 2 were disappointing and are going back ASAP.
I bought that multi lauded and multi medalled Allegiance, and although a reasonable nine bucker, at the price asked way off the mark. Mine was returned as well to My Wine Guy and swapped for a 97pointer Vic chardonnay that I haven't yet tried.

Thanks for the comparisons. One more I'd like to put to you then - Mav Twins Cab Sauv 2015 or Fox Gordon Bros & Sisters Cab Sauv 2014?

I had another Brothers and Sisters just a week or so ago, so the comparison is still fairly fresh in my mind. They are both very nice wines. The twins probably has the edge in intensity and complexity, but the B&S is much better balanced and integrated. As a drink now proposition I would go with the B&S by a small margin, but I expect that equation may change in a few years time as the Twins settles down.

Thanks for the review, will order some.

It's pretty good, though as usual I wouldn't want to pay "full price". I was a little concerned when I saw it was a deep pink colour & touted itself as strawberries & cream. I feared a confectioned pinot. But blow me down it does taste of strawberries & cream but thankfully no cloying sweetness. I think that's why they added some fiano to the brew to tart it up - it works. The pure Provence is much more restrained & has that lovely lingering after-taste. I don't know how Decanter came to judge it worlds best, but happy enough. It will be a bit warmer tonight in Adelaide, see how they fare.

Appreciate your thoughts, thank you!
