Hi

I am looking at a SYD-BKK in J in August.

SYD-BKK no J available - have called the premium number but request for Plat Classic Award release was rejected.

BKK-SYD J and F available on Emirates flights

Can I book these on one booking using a points and pay for SYD-BKK and Classic for BKK-SYD or does it have to be two bookings. If so SYD-BKK becomes one way and expensive.

Any help is appreciated.

AFAIK (though happy to be corrected) that is the only way to do it with the result that the single leg costs almost the same as a return, though originating in BKK could be a bit cheaper.

You can have a paid flight one-way (any cabin) and an economy award one-way. The price of the paid flight is not a genuine expensive one-way price but it's also not half a return price either. A return is made up of 2 one-way prices that are not necessarily equal depending on demand.

I don't think you can choose say a paid business one-way and business award coming back. You will have an economy award but with recent changes you can upgrade an economy award to business if there's upgrade availability. Costs a few extra points over a classic business award outright.
