Dear Blockers

I am booking my ticket (hopefully) tomorrow so I can include you. I am just waiting for Treasury Wines to fix a glitch that stops me from using the shopping basket. I will PM you when I am up and running ...

Alternatively, just use the link above if you are a Penfolds Friend (and if you are not a Penfolds Friend, register (for free) and then use the link, ensuring you log in to finalise the purchase).

Also happy to buy a ticket if you are happy to reimburse me the $100 fee.

Thanks Wozza, appreciated! To save admin - I have joined the 'Friends of Penfolds' website and purchased some tickets this morning! Looking forward to it already.
I'm also off to the Barossa on the 30/31 so have booked into Penfolds and Magill Estate... will be sampling my fair share of the 2015 releases ha ha!!! :D

Had a spare hour this afternoon so ducked out to the Magill Estate cellar door. First time there since the changes. Very schmick.

Didn't get to try many of the premium ones. Some random thoughts. I thought the 2013 Bin 128 was pretty decent. Not a wine I've ever thought much of previously. Bin 407, still can't see the appeal of this. Even at half RRP I wouldn't touch it. Bin 389 very approachable but decades to go. Very good wine. Bin 150 is pretty solid. St Henri. Stunning wine. Bought without trying and happy I bought. 2013 Magill Estate was excellent. Really refined, elegant and balanced. Worth $130, probably not. If only Dan's had stock.

Thanks for the report. I'm planning a trip to Magill in early December.

Thanks Daver6 - some good tips. Look forward to trying these in the next week or so.

Would love a PM with details please Dr :)
Can't help you this time. I've been back with friends each day to buy the 1 bottle limit. Now none left. I'll let you know if something similar comes up again.

AnonymousCoward, you and I were conversing over Grays Wine and the St Henri 2010. Well, the latest 'as is' auction has just sold a 6 Pack for just over $160 a bottle (with buyers premium). There's obviously a good strong market for these and it seems to be getting better.

It's amazing what some people will pay. You can pick up the current 2012 vintage for $80 in a single bottle buy and they've been stored correctly. Auctions are a gamble unless you a certain about the provenance.

And what did the 2012 score compared to the 2010? I think there's your answer - people will pay more for the better vintages.

When the 2010 St Henri was released you could find them at a similar price to the current release, 2012. Both are superb vintages. I would buy the 2010 if I had to pick between the two and if both were the same price, main reason being it's two years closer to drinking age :p At the current price of the 2010, I'd get the 2012 for the $80+ mentioned and wait a little longer.

I picked up 3 2010s in HK for HKD598 each with free delivery within HK. Worked well for me, may do for others too. There seem to be plenty in stock with reputable distributors in HK.

To save people looking it up (like me!), HKD598 is about AUD$108-9.

Noticed this at Vintage Cellars in Nedlands. 2012 St Henri at $80 in mixed six. I'd imagine a similar offer would be available at other Vintage Cellars.

Daver what does 'in mixed six' mean? You must by 6 St Henri to get this price? You can mix 1 x St Henri onto mix with 5 other reds?

Dan's price $71.20 less 18% Gift/CR = $58.39 or $74.85 / bott

Correct. Any six bottles. So one St Henri and 5 of anything else.

Dan's price is much better. I just happened to see it in store and recalled some members here were interested. Did zero research on how that price compared to others.

$60 at Dans feels okay for StH actually. Might need to stock up.
