Penfolds discussion and offers

As it is minutes from my house I have been to the new cellar door at Magill.
Very impressed I am.
I think dining there would be quite expensive.

Perhaps I should look at doing a tour to the ADL Hills via Magil?

Yes I got it also - shame they are wanting a lot more than Dans.

I notice the 707 is not available, is it released at a different time?

Thanks, that wasn't clear.

Case now ordered...free shipping as well!

Dr Ralph. I'll be interested to get your opinion on these Magil Collection wines, noting your earlier comment that the 389 and St Henri were overpriced. I am guessing you rate these significantly more highly than the 389 and St Henri ...

Noticed that as well. I do like the 707, though its a bit out of my budget...

Magill are truly outstanding. Rarely would you seen these wines discounted. At usually more than $100 a bottle, they aren't cheap, but they are value for money as a 'something special' wine to bring out at a dinner party.

I'm not suggesting that 389 and St Henri aren't great wines. The problem is that they don't hold their value. They can often be picked up at significant discounts only a short period after release. This is rarely the case with Magill

It's a great experience at their cellar door.

Thanks Dr Ralph. Better wine and better (non-depreciation) value I hear you say.

Yes. And it's a lot less common than things like 389 and St Henri, which can be purchased at many bottle shops.

Bringing a Magill out at a dinner party will be a hit. Many may never have seen or tasted one. Never disappointed yet.

Its been released. Always comes out at the same time as the others.

It may be in short supply. For the 2013 I'm seeing a RRP of $500.
It doesnt seem to be included in all the advertising...

The Magill was my first Penfolds purchase, I look forward to drinking it in the future.

Just had an email from a friend who said he manage to secure 2 bottles of 707 today. Apparently it's in short supply. He refused to sell me one of the bottles!

Looks like I can pick up the RWT 13 for $83 a bottle (if I have done my maths correctly!).

Good. Bad. Average. [In this serious $$ price range] ... ? Is it in the same league as the Magill's you guys have been cooing over?

That's cheap. I though $90 via Winemarket was cheap. Where are you sourcing it from?

That a good price.

Definitely not. RWT is a very good wine. Magill Estate is outstanding.

WineMarket. Just applying some more tricks on the advertised $125. 20% + WISH (thanks for the tip) + PricePal cashback (at the special 24 hr rate) ...

i've never been disappointed bringing a St Henri to a dinner party - but I choose carefully with whom I drink them. I might be cellaring about 15-20 St Henris at present - back to '88. Who's holding them for value - I'm in them to drink

This emphasises my earlier points about discounted Penfolds very well.

I think it's just a WineMarket mistake - they usually exclude Penfolds from the 20% off offers. They learnt the hard way after someone cleaned them out of a bunch of Grange @ 20% off. This time, they seem to have forgotten the RWT and St Henri. Discount code doesn't work for Bin 389 et al.

Bugger - didn't realise that Woolworths gift cards worked at WineMarket. Something for next time :)
