Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Wow, VM is offering another "should be good" cabernet sauvignon today, BLACK MARKET DEAL Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, down from RRP $120 a bottle to $42!

It'll probably be good, but I can't see it as being worth $120. That's way above The Tally Reserve and into John Riddoch pricing. Surely it's not in that bracket?

Where have you found John Riddoch discounted to $42?

I love the rhetorical question here, one that answers it's own question. You lawyers certainly have a knack with the english language don't you ! or should it be ? Looks better with a !

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Have you read post #6480?

Do we think it's definitely the Penley? The price is out by $10 on Wine Companion, Halliday's write up mentions a white cork, and the mof_ description doesn't really tie up. mof_ were kind of hinting at a Parkers with the Terra Rossa language, but guessing that's just a smokescreen given its definitely not the lower end Terra Rossa (price) or the higher end First Growth (points).

There's no way I am paying $42 a bottle for an unknown 95 Pointer - regardless of the mof_ platitudes. Happy to do that on the wines below $25, but not any higher. Am I being too cautious?

I'm leaning towards Penley - the description says "established nearly 30 years ago" and Penley was established in 1988. They are a 5 Red Star Halliday winery, so at the very least have a reputation for consistently producing quality wine.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

I confirmed it's the Penley.

I finally jump on the Penley Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 as I feared that I can't hold myself back towards the Penley Estate Steyning, and when I make my order, I confirmed that the other one is also the Penley.

Thanks bmhchang. I was confident that the earlier discussions (especially from jabba100 ) on this were correct.

I'm sure you wont be disappointed with the Reserve.

I had a Penley Phoenix 2004 Cabernet in the last year and that punched well above its weight for a late teens costing wine. This Reserve will be a beauty I am sure. And for just over $21 for a bottle, great value.

Sundays Restocked BM Barossan cabernet 2014 $10.50 from $35 is the exceptional Fox Gordon brothers and sisters. I can sum this wine up in one word-Stunning. If I sum it up in three words, it would be these words -better Than Glenlofty.

I concur. It is a cracking wine for around a tenner, hence I purchased two cases previously and am currently considering a third ;)

Well I have taken the plunge. Hopefully I will raise a glass of thanks on "Friday 20th November".

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

howdee wozza, was going for a frank potts 2012 blend tonight but queen bee has a sting in her tail after a few bigger days so I am quietly typing away with a vitamin b next to me - VB beer just in case you may be wondering.

has anyone had the frank potts?

I bought it because of the value firstly and the location second, langhorne creek. In the same region as one of my personal favourites , lakebreeze winery, and lets face it, the other big sister locales basically smash Langhorne creek in volume and advertising.
But it will wait for another time. The arthurs reserve from lakebreeze sells for 35, so when the potts came on, at about a third of the price, I had to dip the toe.

So any folks also tried the arthurs reserve, and the bernoota. Your thoughts as always are greatly appreciated.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

5 days! Wow, wish I could get service like that from VM.

Mine said Monday 23rd/ Hopefully it won't be another 38 degree scorcher while it sits in some warehouse waiting for a Monday delivery. I'm wondering if Perthians avoid mail-ordering wine over the very hot months just in case?
