My FIFO friend just flew TT (yes, that's TIGER) to get to PER to connect to her work funded QF flights north. yep.... the glamorous life of FIFO.
Another thought on FIFO workers - how do "we"(as in other pax) spot them? they're in their high vis. Now while I don't pay close attention, seems to me most high vis shirts/jackets carry the employers logo/name on them.
Surely incentive for a worker to behave more than an anonymous jerk in a suit - who would you know who they worked for unless you knew them personally or they had some identifying pin, tie or something on them?
I do agree that it is often the "suit and tie" brigade that are worse behaved (at times) in lounges... I've seen some very poor form behaviour - from shouting on their phones, to "DYKWIA" type moments to general selfishness with seating (eg: this lounge is full, but this seat next to me is reserved for my very important laptop bag) and the like.
the whole FIFO thing is a stereotype, just as my above statement about business suit types.. there's a minority that create the impression that creates the issue. Yes, I've seen the zoo post knock off at the PER QP bar and no, it's not a good look at all. Then again, how many of us enjoy a drink after work on a Friday with our mates? I don't condone it but it's not like this kind of thing is not unknown outside of FIFOworld.. and remember some of these guys work bloody hard for a month or more on then finally get to let go... for better or worse. I don't defend the boorish actions of some, but I don't want to condem all fluro vested individuals the same way.
My tiger flying friend would be the one in the corner sipping her white wine and offending nobody.
