New 1-2-1 J which operates (sometimes) ex BNE is nice. The fully flat beds feel a bit short and narrow to me but I'm sure they are comfortable enough for most pax.

Here is ausbt review:

I've only had these new seats and find them to be the mini version of the Emirates/Asiana/JAL biz product. Agree they seem a tad shorter and if you've got any extra padding around your waist getting into window seats may be troublesome

Not being picky ;), but the JAL business product is quite different. They have two versions of full flats - 'box suites', and a staggered 'legs-under-the-armrest' Swiss/Finnair/KLM type configuration.

Many thanks for all your comments. I am a bit of an adventurer! I look forward to posting my experience here.

Travelling J class (Royal Silk) in November SYD - BKK before heading to Myanmar. Seat 12K upstairs. Any advice on special meals/order from the chef programme? How is the new Air NZ Koru lounge?

The new Air New Zealand lounge is supposed to be pretty good!

No advice on meals. I usually just order off the menu. But if something particularly takes your fancy on the book-the-cook then go for it!

Seating - unless you really have a set-in-stone preference for the upper deck, the lower deck is more spacious, more quiet, more private, has a better crew-passenger ratio, and more room to store hand luggage than the upper deck.

Koru lounge in SYD is very stylish, good barista coffee but the rest of f&b is poor.

SQ J lounge is still my choice for *A in SYD.

Just expect angled flat seats ok....
