Hi All
Planning trip end of the month SYD-BKK on 476 in J
Interested in comments on what to expect in terms of service and comfort etc
... they got all of this done in under 45 minutes!
...closed every window shade, turned off all the lights and disappeared down the back.
oo!! TG business class has just gone up in my estimation! (both of those things I see as a huge positive for business class!!)
oh wait - just you can't then go to sleep on the angled beds...![]()
Angled beds are OK for day flights, big no no for overnight though.

And, avoid upper cabin if you have a large carry on. There is no room. You have to leave it downstairs to enjoy the relative peace upstairs.
Not if you you need to sleep. Lots of people have either had a big night before, or need to go out for a big night on arrival.
The option for passengers to get a good sleep should be there these days in business class.
It's a glorified economy IMO.
Agreed with MEL
Would not pay full price for it - LM excepted
It all depends on the price. Not sure how much TG J cost compared to QF (the only other option for direct flight) but if its significantly cheaper then I would go for TG. Can't say I was very impressed by QF's product to BKK and I don't think they use the new business suites on that route yet.
For a random date in August (out 24/8 return 31/8) QF/EK is asking ~$500 more than TG.
For random dates in October, TG is charging ~$800 more than QF.
QF would be the clear winner for the latter.
(prices confirmed on QF and TG websites)
Forgot about the EK option. $500 extra for return ticket on EK metal is fair and reflects the difference in quality.
I'm surprised to see QF J so much cheaper then TG on some dates considering they only operate one daily flight.
How does the 773 J product compare to J on the 747? I.e. the MEL option.

take all the bad bits of the 747 and add 2-3-2 seating on a noisy 777![]()
There's no advantage unless flying a route with the 'new' 77W with full flats.
There's theoretically supposed to be a couple different versions of TG's angled beds... I flown both and couldn't tell them apart.
What are the fully flat beds like?take all the bad bits of the 747 and add 2-3-2 seating on a noisy 777![]()
