PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Would anyone know the seat loadings on QF52 out of Singapore to Brisbane tonight? 21st Feb?

Wife and I have cheap Red Deal seats with no upgrade options but I'll ask and hope for a points miracle.

Thanks

Wayne
Not sure how well you'll go hoping for a miracle, but it is J9 C7 D5 Y9 B8 so there are a few spare seats around.

Re: Seat Load on QF51 Sin-Bri 21st Feb 2015

Thanks Guys much appreciated.

Any tricks for being humble to the checkin agents asking for a points upgrade?

Thanks Andy,

I have plenty of points but the class of ticket I purchased does not allow upgrades. Wife and I have Silver Status if that might help.

To be honest, international upgrades from eligible booking classes would normally require the request made 24 hours prior to the flight, so the most likely answer would be a no.

Upgrade PE to J on QF17 this Sunday?

Hi Guys,

Can anyone please tell me the chances of a points upgrade from PE to J this Sunday (1st March) for QF17?

I am WP and PE is looking pretty full, but I cannot see what J looks like - never been able to understand Expert Flyer! If any can show the load and explain a bit, it would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Upgrade PE to J on QF17 this Sunday?

Only 1J seat for sale. Are you in 34J seat at present?

Chances not flash if a CL or WP with a higher PCV have lodged UG requests.

Be prepared to fly in PE

Re: Upgrade PE to J on QF17 this Sunday?

Thanks Spruce,

Yes not looking good at all - no in 35A best available when booked - just hoping that the 747 have the side lockers in PE like the 380's ?????

I have not been on a 747 in PE before (always 380 which is a great product) so fingers crossed.

No side lockers from memory, but I didn't find any comfort difference when i flew 747 up/380 back from HKG.

Re: Upgrade PE to J on QF17 this Sunday?

The side lockers on the top deck of the A380 are remnants of the previous PE cabin that was located there, so I would think Oatek's memory is accurate. Haha they looked great with a couple of Hendricks Gin 1 litres in them when I was on one in March 14 ! Lol

Re: Upgrade PE to J on QF17 this Sunday?

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this question:

Looking at EF for QF22 on 12 March it shows J1 but then looking at the seat map it appears as if there are at least 6 J seats and a couple of blocked ones?

What does that mean?

EF is US based, and so J1 means they are willing to sell 1 seat through US outlets. I have done some dummy bookings from OZ in the past when something like this shown, and QF have seemed quite happy to sell me a couple of seats. Also you cant always rely on number of seats blocked/selected in EF, but it is likely that there is more than 1 J seat available to the right customer. But in my experience upgrade prospects seem to be low when so few seats for sale, particularly if none in lower buckets like D.

Can someone help look up QF30 on Friday 22 May. Am tempted to buy an Red E-Deal fare HKG-MEL return and spend the 40k points to upgrade to J on the overnight flight for around $6.2k HKD including taxes. PE/Y mixed fare is $10.5k.

MH have a J special for $9k before tax but unfortunately the times don't line up to allow a HKG departure after work on Friday night to connect to any Australia overnight flight. Have to wait for the next day in all cases, so QF direct makes the most sense.

You need to be careful as to what Booking class it falls into as most Red E Deals can not be upgraded and unfortunately you don't see the Fare Bucket till after you have booked.

For international flights: a) Economy includes classes G, K, L, M, S and V; and b) Flexible Economy includes classes B, H and Y.

Anything outside of them is not normally upgradeable

The current $5250 (plus tax) HKG-MEL Red E Deals are booking into class S. I just happened to be checking on these the other day. :)

Thanks Andy! I clicked Red e-Deal on the page when making a dummy booking and in the T&C it says it is treated as 'economy' for upgrade purposes.

Loading doesn't look too heavy. Unfortunately I need to fly the Friday night to maximize my time in MEL, and I don't fancy my chances of a last minute award release by CX to spend some USDM.

Given it's 2 weeks away, and the wide open QF flight in Y, it might be worth the gamble to wait for a few days before making a purchase. I know... dangerous territory here. :)
