I've done this successfully at ICs in London and USA so don't see why it would not work for Sanctuary Cove. Just add a note of the names of the other guests.

Hey Rick93. Would love to hear about your experience at IC sanctuary Cove, how was the Club room? Was the Homestead suite better than the Queenslander suite? Thanks in advance

Our 'Homestead' suite was on the top floor of our block, with a special plaque by the door, announcing suite xx_ as a Homestead Suite.

Two balconies, two TVs, two toilets ( one near the lounge, and the other as an ensuite ).

As a Plat. Ambassador, I received a 2011 Shiraz; a four-piece box of chocs and a four-piece box of nice cookies. Plus the usual fruit place.

Two 600 ml. bottles of water every day, and you could ring for more.

The Club Lounge is also great for drinks. Self service - even for spirits.

Afternoon tea is now a three-tiered 'High Tea' arrangement ( on request when you arrive from 14:30 - 16:00 hrs. )

Overall, a great way to end my PP Membership - as we used my last BOGO voucher.

Sounds nice.. :)
Additionally I heard that there was a fire at the resort early this morning.

Thanks Rick93.

Sounds great, hope we get a similar experience, really appreciate your feedback.

I'm wondering if things have changed for the better. For us, (plat Amb.) we received a Qld Suite which was OK but nothing exceptional. Sounds like the Homestead either gets a better deal or they've made a better deal. Congrats on the stay.......it sounds nice.

Given the weather, I'm guessing you're not implying the fire was in the fireplace?

Currently staying at IC sanctuary Cove, surroundings and facilities are really beautiful. However we haven't had quite the same experience as Rick. On arrival at 2.30pm told our room wouldn't be available till at least 4,30pm (in their defence, they did offer another room to wait in). Had booked the 7 night stay 3 months ago. Single room upgrade to Queenslander suite, even though they are aware we had booked another room for family for 3 nights. No Ambassador amenities in room, had to ask for fruit platter still no water ever arrived. Club room staff are really lovely, as most staff members here are

Just stumbled on this thread. I am looking to potentially book this hotel for 4 nights Monday through Friday for my honeymoon so looking for recent feedback. Markis10 looks the like the expert on it!

I like that resorty feel (not too interested in the high rise properties on the Gold Coast but did also look at the Versace) and looking for some lazing around, warmth, good food.So is it worth:

1. Paying the USD$200 to become ambassador?
This would then also upgrade me to IHG Gold Elite (which doesn't seem to mean much). But the key point seems to be the guaranteed room upgrade, though I am not sure what this would entail? If I booked a lagoon pool room what would it get upgraded to?

2. Paying the $320 for IHG Dining Rewards
This would then also upgrade me to IHG Platinum (which doesn't seem to mean too much!). Could make use of the free night either on this stay or more likely on an upcoming trip to Hong Kong. 25% off best flexible rate may come in a tad cheaper than what I am currently looking to book. And there is probably an instant $100 benefit on food and beverage with the 25% off.

Edit: Through further reading Hong Kong might not be possible?

Go for Ambassador Membership.
Stay a weekend as part of you stay, and you can use your 'free weekend night' voucher.
Pay for a 'base' level Club Access room, and get upgraded to Queenslander, or maybe Homestead Suite ( both still with Club Lounge access ).

Every time I / we stay there, it's always 'Club', and we never really have to buy any food.

A big breakfast keeps us going until 14:30 hrs. until the 'three-tiered' Afternoon Tea offering comes out in the Club Lounge. When it's quiet, we had no issue with getting a second.

You just have another few hours ( to consume THAT food, until the 'Evening Drinks' and hot food offering comes out ( which will last for two hours ).

I always feel just a little guilty, for eating my way through plate after plate, and drink after drink. Lucky you don't need to drive back anywhere !!

Club at SC is well worth it.

I can't answer any DR questions as I don't have it......nor do I intend to get it, but on ICSC, I agree that buying club is a good move. I haven't had the Homestead suite, but I have had the Qld suite and can say it's a bit of an ordinary suite......not bad, but certainly not exceptional. I've had plenty of standard rooms that beat the Qld suite at ICSC. The club however, is very enjoyable at Sanctuary Cove. I've not been to Versace but it always looks gaudy and sterile to me and somewhat overpriced (that assessment may be well wide of reality though).

I haven't seen markis10 post for some time and I note he is no longer a mod, so I assume he's not in a position to participate on AFF anymore, which is a shame as he certainly is a wealth of knowledge.

Thanks for the tips guys. Have signed up for Ambassador (not yet reflected on my account) and made a booking for Sanctuary Cove. Not a club room unfortunately, for an extra $80 a night I am more than happy to eat and drink wherever.

Still tossing up on the dining rewards. Might call them up and see if they can throw in another dining voucher, otherwise pretty exxy at $320. But at $220 is probably pretty good value with the free night + 25% off all food and drink. Just a pity it can't be used for room service.

As it's your honeymoon, I assume there will hopefully be two of you in the room. That's then $40 per day each (rather than just night) which will give you breakfast, afternoon tea and canapés and drinks. That's actually a pretty good deal for a honeymoon assuming you two probably have to eat somewhere at a cost. Bear in mind Sanctuary Cove is in a remote(ish) marine precinct. There is not much nearby except the marine village which is not what I'd call cheap in itself for food. It's worth considering the club access.

Yeah I guess when you put it like that it probably is a good deal! Though breakfast is already covered with the room. Afternoon tea really not of interest. The drinks and canapes would be nice though!

We will have a car so other than probably 1 full day spent at the resort it is likely we will be out and about the other days.

Yes, I see what you mean. As your breakie is already included and you won't be around for afternoon tea, then $40 each per day for drinks and nibbles is not so attractive. More importantly, congratulations on your upcoming (I assume) wedding!

Just to check with you ...

When you say, "breakfast is included ... ", did you specifically book a package, that stated breakfast was included ??

Because, usually, it is NOT.

Brekky at SC IC is $42. EACH !!!

THAT'S why buying Club Access is worth it ( not mention the other food / drink items ).
