Hey Markis hope Adelaide IC are looking after you? we really enjoy staying there

They usually do look after me, had a few status recognition issues early in the stay but now all good now. The lounge team will be getting a big box of chocs tomorrow.

Just had 3 nights at CP surfers over new year......had 21st floor which had a good view and could see the Fireworks however, it's proberly the most oldest CP I have stayed at in Oz!

It was extremely well staffed but it's decor and pool area are from back in the 80's and in need of modernization.

IC at Sanctuary Cove is much more appealing however having stayed in a Homestead Suite last year, pool very inviting and lovely gardens, a much more relaxing atmosphere!

IC sounds very appealing, checked the website, they do have a kids club, maybe it's worth investigating

Sydney and Melbourne are the same, no under 18s, only Adelaide allows kids, which is where I am typing this from

I think it is licensing laws more than anything. Sometimes no one at times to supervise that a minor might not serve themselves alcohol.

It is a (nice) room off the bar area. I've often taken my beverage and food outside the room and sat in the bar with the kids. The bar sometimes will continue the beverage service without returning to the room during the evening drinks.

I doubt it. Qld law is the same throughout Qld and Hilton Surfers, Brisbane and Cairns all allow minors in at happy hour time, as does lounge bars across the state. A kid on their own, yes perhaps, but kids under parental supervision would not be a licensing issue.

Before I book this hotel, would really like to know, do you receive a one level upgrade, or can you get real lucky as a Platinum Ambassador? Thanks for any advice

I'm using my last remaining PP BOGO there in March ( current status = Platinum Ambassador )

Booked ( via PP website some time ago ) a King Club Garden View room ...

Online upgrade to King Club Marina View room. This is apparently the 'one class upgrade' ( Garden to Marina )

No club access though.

Markis, surely you haven't made an error ???

Of course I will be getting Club Access. I've booked ( and will pay for ) a Club Access room.

My Ambassador status 'one class upgrade' will see me go from CLUB ACCESS Garden View to CLUB ACCESS Marina View ...

You must have been thinking of 'something else' .... ( lol )

( .... and, I've booked this exact same room type previously - on PP BOGO - and never had any issue with getting what I expected .... CLUB ACCESS + the room upgrade ).

If you book a club room you will get it, but if not and it shows a club room as the upgrade don't expect access, which they often allocate if you select standard.

Yes, I get what you mean ...

In my case ( as an example ), I have booked a CLUB ACCESS room, and as an Ambassador ( Gold or Plat ), I should get the 'one class upgrade' ( AMB BOGO cert. to be used )

I had a few 'magic' years as a 'referred' RA, and under THOSE circumstances, I could book the absolute cheapest room, and expect to get a 'two class' upgrade - which included Club Access ( or suite - but not both ).

*** just to add another thread to this one:

As a Plat AMB, I've booked a Sydney IC Club Access room - one class below a Club Access Executive Suite ( King Club Opera House View ). This will ensure I receive a King Club Access Executive Suite ( a one class upgrade )

It's been mentioned across a number of threads on this Forum .... that if you want CLUB - you need to book / pay for Club, and accept whatever 'room upgrade' they give you after that.

RAs don't get two class, they get a suite or club. Fortunately now that referrals are gone the hotels are much more generous, with Adelaide giving me club and one of their best penthouse suites and Sydney giving me club and full benefits on an award night stay
