The champagne is all day on a qantas 737... its the amenity kits that are night flights only.

Thanks for confirming.. Amenity kits probably not so important on a short flight (I carry my socks and mask with me wherever I go lol).. But I still prefer the A380 :)
 
Having removed the champagne from trans Tasman J some time ago, bringing it back again is a good thing.
I stopped drinking the sparkling wine for that reason.
If I'm going to drink NZ or Aussie wine, then I will stick to good nz Pinot / Sav Blanc, or Aussie Shiraz/ Cab Sav/ Chardonnay.
I shall be flying QF 126 in 10 days time.
 
QF151 is moving to a red eye departure soon which may have something to do with the amenity kits. Schedule conflicted with the EK A380 so its going to a 2335 departure from MEL and in to AKL at 0515 next day.

How is this complimentary?

Given we have a daily NZ 77W service from MEL with a real Business class the whole QF flight would need to be complimentary for me to consider it!

All this is doing is advertising that Qantas haven't offered champagne on shorthaul business class flights to New Zealand for a number of years.

I think it would be a shame if they were operated by anything else. Anything larger and not likely economical and anything smaller and demand would exceed supply pushing up prices.

Thanks for this info, I didn't know that 151 is turing into a red eye.

AirNZ / EK seem to be doing ok operating this with larger aircraft. QF used to do quite nicely operating larger aircraft on this route until they decided that it was worth their while no longer flying this route and handing everything over to JetConnect (whom only operate 737's)

NZ does it because they usually connect to their USA flights. EK because they don't have anything smaller and the flights are meant to connect through to DXB.

And presumably QF could do it to connect with Europe and all of Asia...

Back in the bad ole days, QF did the same, my preferred TT flight was QF25/26 which was a B747 / A330 service MEL-AKL-LAX...
 
I for one am looking forward to a Kate Spade kit; it'll match a handbag that I have.
 
I'd still choose a EK A380 with champagne all day over a QF 737.. but a step in the right direction :)

We just booked EK A380 First for $50 less than QF Business on the 737. It's a no brainer.

(and still on a QF flight number so full F SCs).
