What's the config where there's 1EF, and then 2DF (i.e., seat 2D has unlimited leg room as there's no seat in front). I thought that was a JQ hand-me-down?
No, a JQ return. They were originally Qantas Liveried when they went into service around 2003.

Here's an old seat map: 2003 Qantas 332 seat map

Which was a Qantas handme down originally. That was my point, all the Jetstar A330's were either Qantas aircraft originally or with the latter ones had the same config as the Qantas A330's that were being received at the same time.

Are there still the A330 flights between MEL and BNE? Had a feeling there used to be on Thursdays, not so long ago, but can't seem to find anything to book on. Any suggestions for getting to BNE without the typical A320/321s or B737s (aside from CBR, I can only see routing through SYD as a possibility)? Nothing like some variety in life!

QF29 on 11 April showing the new seating configuration.

Interesting.
Potentially 330-300 #3 in service around that date (if you assume refurbs of -300s about 1.5mths)
albeit that would mean not completing new config on all SIN services.

(with 2 you can do QF35/36/ 81/82 but not QF5/6 or 51/52)

-- Current aircraft in Brisbane maint:
VH-EBA 330-200 Since 1/1
VH-EBG 330-200 Since 24/1 (may just be routine maint)
VH-QPC 330-300 Since 17/1
(QPA 330-300 refurb to 2.5mths, the 330-200 refurbs 1-1.5mths

Looks like they're more interested in MEL at the moment. It's a bit more difficult to arrange for SYD/SIN, as an A332 sometimes get used for one of the 2 daily runs. They're probably not too interested in BNE either, there's currently a specific ex-SIN sale to BNE (but not the other cities) for both Y and J.

Pretty irregular subs - Past 30 days (from qantassource)
SYD/SIN QF81/82 - always 300
SYD/SIN QF5/6 - 27/30 300, 3/30 200
BNE/SIN QF51/52 - always 300

That said with the -200 reconfigs being quicker, they might do a bit more subbing if loads are light enough

Damn Qantas changed my skybed A330-200 on mel-syd to an ex JQ a330 for tomorrow, nasty!! Follows last month swapping EBV to an ex JQ A330

Wooo-hoo!

Now... which of those seats were the 'better' ones again? (not that I can choose any yet...!)

My suggestion is to take an even number (row 2 & 4 are best) on the window, these seats have the side table / console between the seat and the aisle (rather than between the seat and the window) hence they are more private and you are close to the window.

here's an interesting tidbit...way back when QF announced the A330 refurb/upgrade, there was such a hooha about QF not putting in a premium economy cabin...and because CX did/does , QF made a big mistake....well guess what!...CX is axing/removing premium economy from ALL their A330/south asia/middle east flights (as per an article in 'business traveller')....seems it wasn't QF that made the mistake this time:D

The article mentions removing from Middle east routes beginning March and other routes in Asia from October. No mention of HKG-SYD/MEL etc. I seem to remember CX reduced the number of PE seats in their A330s to AUS a while back, so not sure there will be further changes in this announcement. Still leaves QF at a potential disadvantage for those flights using A330s.

We need to keep in mind that CX's Y+ is generally ridiculously priced, and in the case of regional routes, the plane will most likely get subbed so you'll be sent back to Y anyway. (They sometimes send you up to J, however).
