Flights you couldn't get on Qantas

Maybe lack of non Q flying out of Adelaide International has freed my thinking up to experience other airline service. Which I'm actually enjoying.

Now unless I can fly out of Sydney to enjoy the F lounge it's all non Qantas.

Good luck today in Melbourne 'Happy Trails' !!! ;)

It took a minute or two of Googling but I see it now; race 6 at Caulfield.
Cathay Pacific Stakes too, my favourite airline.
If only I had an online gaming account.

What about MH for the OP? Do. They fly to PER and Surabaya?

MH don't fly to Surabaya. Not sure if they did in the past but certainly not at present. Odd actually considering MH flies to about 10 Indonesian destinations and Surabaya is the 2nd largest city in Indonesia

Tony has it covered and MH can't compete. They used to fly there but I think it was chopped around 2 years ago. They only fly to 3 places in Indonesia - Jakarta, Bali and Medan.

7 if you include the 4 Firefly routes, which is the full service regional airline owned wholly by MH ala MH's Qantaslink. Whilst not a OneWorld affiliate you can fly on a MH code.

Though the MH website gives a choice of 9 Indonesian destinations.

You're getting confused by mas wings ... which is the QF link equivalent . Firefly is, as far as I can tell, somewhere between Jetstar and QF link.

Yes and no Firefly is full service, but thanks for reminding me about MAS Wings forgot about them. Also they operate the other 2 flights to Indonesia, so the 9 destinations on MH code now add up.

3x MH
4x Firefly
2x MAS Wings

Ha! Thought you might of been a fan of him, great little horse, and his next mission the Cox Plate will be better suited for him after yesterdays run.

Whoops... just noticed your location !

To be fair, Qantas hasn't flown to SUB in at least the last 15+ years (if ever?). So they could never have got you there. From PER at different points in time you could have reached as close as CGK or DPS on QF, but more recently only as close as SIN.

Yes, I would have been more than happy to get that close with QF and then continue to SUB with someone else. In fact, I'd be happy if QF could get me anywhere inside a particular country (or Continent for that matter)

I can of course get into Indonesia or SE Asia with QF but only if I backtrack a few thousand Km to the east coast first - unlikely!
I also have no issue with travelling to the US or NZ with a stopover in SYD, MEL or BNE.
I can also get to Europe with EK and earn QF status (I can't , however, do a QF points upgrade with EK).

Hey, I know - how about QF cease all international western flights out of SYD or MEL and make passengers fly domestically through PER first. That seems fair to both sides of the country :)

Waiting for the SLASP!

That's actually not a bad idea when it's possible to have a plane that goes between PER and LHR non-stop.

Even if they where making a profit out of PER, that doesn't mean that they should maintain a route. Let's say they assign a plane to do PER-SIN and they get $10,000 average profit per flight for doing that flight, what if they where to move that plane to a SYD-HNL and where able to get $11,000, would it make sense keeping it on the PER route which ultimately earned them less just to keep PER happy.
I would try to lease another aircraft and have 2 profitable routes.

Said it before but Qantas are not a benevolent society nor are they a form of public transport. What is fair is totally irrelevant. They are a private company and what gives the investors of said private company the best return for their investment is all that matters.

Time to build a bridge me thinks.

I think what you may have meant is have an aircraft that can fly cost effectively and carry sufficient passengers and cargo non stop PER to LHR.

Best return for investors.
Yeah because it is working out for investors right now. Nice dividend stream, nice capital growth.

Yeah as I said best return. Flying other flights like Perth may well make that return even less in the current enviroment, so it's all relative.
