Its the Booking Code that is relevant to the cabin you travel in and the FF processing.

Not quite. You get credit for the paid class of travel. An upgrade will book into a higher booking class but you only get credit for the lower class paid for.

Ok, but with a YUP you have paid for a ticket that books into P/A, so you are credited with P/A in the FF program.

I appreciate all your help trying to resolve this issue. I guess the only way to be sure, is for me to see what happens after I take the trip next week. I'll let you all know.

Look a bit further afield, e.g. Try BOS
Thanks. But I will only have one day, possibly 2, at the most to complete a turnaround.

Would $2.85/SC be considered acceptable for a QUP/YUP SC run?

Well considering that others are happy getting $6/SC for their SC runs, I think you have a pretty good deal!!!

Cheers

Generally yes... I've booked a YUP for $1900 and 780 SC's so that's in the same ballpark @ $2.44/SC, but yes I am taking 3 days with an o'night red-eye and a bit of R&R with a 22 hour break before the return..

It's not specific but one should be able to work it out. (Note: The whole journey is comprised of six segments and flights over 1200 miles are very important.)

Is the reason that the 1201 mile journeys are important because in J you need 30 miles flown for each SC (sort of) as opposed to say over 2400 you need 60 miles?

That's what I was not quite clearly enough talking about. In planning my future travels and considering which program to put points to I will be seeking to put teh flights that are closest to the margin for rolling into the higher bracket for SC earning.

How did you calculate the miles flown/SC?

Basically I looked at the SCs earned up to one level (600 or 1200) miles and then looked at the SCs earned at the next level:

Code:
Zone	From	To	Business
1 - 600 40
2 601 1,200 60
3 1,201 2,400 80
4 2,401 3,600 100
5 3,601 4,800 120
6 4,801 5,800 140
7 5,801 7,000 160
8 7,001 8,400 180
9 8,401 9,600 200
10 9,601 240

I then compared say Zone 2 to Zone 3. One calculation was to take the marginal SCs earned in Zone 3 divide by the maximum additional miles flown (ZOne1-2 you could fly up to 600 mies for an extra 20SCs but Zone2-3 you could fly an extra 1200 miles for an extra 20SCs).

The target obviosuly is to fly earn the Zone 3 Scs but fly only just over 1200 miles.

I guess my original calc wasnt miles/SC but maxmium marginal miles/marginal SC.

Actually, with a YUP type fare, when yiu fly P/A class you get SC's for F.

i.e. (Zone:SCs) 1:60, 2:90, 3:120, 4:150, 5:180 , 6:210 ... etc.
